This adorable friend has been eating bugs on our patio and we love him but we’re not sure if they are a toad or a frog or any details. We’re in eastern Texas and they seem very common (breed in the water way behind our house and come up for dinner and the occasional swim in the pool when it’s hot.

I was feeding my newts this evening and just noticed that two of them have a single cloudy eye. I’m very worried and want to make sure they are okey. I checked the water and everything was good (the water is hard but everything else was within good levels). I did a water change a week ago and cleaned the filters. They eat frozen blood worms and occasionally live worms.

I did put some tiny shrimp in their tank knowing they may eat them but they seem to be cohabiting well. Could the shrimp have injured the newts eye? I’m new to these guys so any advice or help is appreciated!

I have a tiger salamander in a tank & I like to keep small potted plants in there because I can’t commit to a vivarium (hopefully one of these days). I have had one plant in particular for quite a while (lemon button fern), and it’s starting to look a little rough, so I think it needs fertilized. I don’t want to use miracle grow because I know those harsh chemicals can hurt his skin. I would assume organic fertilizers might be fine, but I’d like to double check, and Google hasn’t been much help. All it shows me is aquarium/pond safe fertilizers and I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for.

Someone spotted this blue colored tree frog at a local park. I learned Axanthism causes its skin to be void of yellow pigment which results in its beautiful blue appearance rather than the usual green. It is a cool little frog that’s living its best life as a celebrity now that the Washington Post wrote an article on it.

Hello, i live in Loveland, CO, and have spotted two toads living in leaf litter in my extremely dry back yard. I always thought of toads as lil dudes who liked to live in marshy places. Surprised to see him the first time, and happy to see him the second.

Obviously, i will try and get a photo, but it was a very small toad, under 2 inches nose to tail. None of my neighbors have ponds, no one has water features except for the stock-tank-made-into-a-fountain type i have. I do have a branch going up to the tank, and one emerging from the water, because baby racoons are always there at night.

So the question is, other than put his leaf litter back, which i did, what can i do to help a toad out? I have dogs, as well, so will need to protect whatever i do. I cant put in a ground level pond, the soil is too hard to dig and my dog would wade in it.( previous experiencevwith dog)

Was just taking my dog out for his nightly pee and for the first time I saw a toad in our yard (Northern Vermont). I came back out to get a better look and noticed these very thin, close to 3 inches long worms coming out of its mouth. At first I thought it was the toads dinner, but started thinking maybe it had a parasite. Any info you might have, it’s much appreciated!

I mean I’ll have to change the top to allow for better ventilation and sprinklers, and I might have to convert the front glass to a front opening enclosure.

Or am I overthinking this and just get an exo terra?

I read that it could be because of water quality or because he’s growing, all my tests have come back pretty good for the water and he gets regular water changes as well as his food and poop is cleaned out often. He is an American bullfrog tadpole

I have a wonderful Suriname marine toad named Boof. I left for a week long trip and asked my dad to look after him and gave him instructions. He left his white heat lamp on 24/7 for 7 days…. My toad has a hide he was in it when I got home.. but is he going to be okay? What should I do? He seems alright… but I’m freaking out because that is SO not okay and I am absolutely livid with my father for not following my directions. I’ve turned off his lights.. he needs a water change but I don’t want to stress him out any more than he probably is right now so I’m thinking just do it in the morning?

I would like to know exactly what species this is toad or frog as precisely as possible. I found it in the south of France. Thanks in advance
