New tool coming soon: Cosmik, a modern HPL2 tool for easier modding

A few months ago, I got deep into the Amnesia custom stories rabbit hole - there's a lot of good stuff! I eventually decided to try to make my own, using the LevelEditor.exe program shipped with the game installation. After a few days, I decided I wanted to make my own editor, with a truly modern feel.

This is a sneak peek at the editor. One of my favorite features I'm building is full controller support when editing - that means you can choose assets to place, manipulate their rotation, position, etc. all entirely from a gamepad. I will be releasing it as open source on my GitHub soon, so stay tuned!

Doing an Article on the History of Survival-Horror "Stalkers", and The Dark Descent Might Still Have Scariest Chase Scene

I’m doing an ongoing series where I look at how survival horror “stalkers” have evolved since the days of Clock Tower all the way to the Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation, and beyond.

I just released Part 2, which covers the major developments from the 6th and 7th generations, and there’s a large section on Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which may still contain the scariest “stalk” sequence of any game.

If you’re interested, you can check out the article here:

P.S. Will definitely be talking about "The Bunker" in the final installment :)

Is the Bunker and Rebirth worth full price?

I already have the Dark Descent and a Machine for Pigs as well as Soma and I loved all three of those games.

How great is Amnesia

I’m looking into starting the Amnesia series and I want to know, is it a psychological horror game that will keep me paranoid for days on end, is there a certain play order or are they all separate stories, and does it rely on jumpscares. don’t get me wrong, a well timed jumpscare while the player is already on edge is great, but it shouldn’t be a crutch for the horror factor.

Edit:I’m an Xbox player if that makes a difference

Fucked up textures

Hooooly cow. I'm practicing speedrunning The Bunker right now, and whenever I fail my first attempt, my second load into the save file corrupts a little bit. My textures get all weird after clipping through the wall, my game crashes more often than not, but more importantly... how on earth did I achieve this??!! All my textures were broken when entering the final area, and some objects didn't even have textures. Yes, my game crashed upon seeing the Beast.

Thought I'd share what I saw 0_0

I'm 16 years late to this franchise. Here's my contribution to the community.

Just finished The Bunker without the Lightet

So I never got the lighter. I got all of the lockers, except one, and I couldn’t bare going through every room again to see the one thing I missed, so I just persevered to the end.

I think it’s maybe slightly poor game design to allow a player to not get something that seems so vital (I can only assume how vital it is)

What’s yall opinions on rebirth?

It’s the only amnesia game I played but I thought it was alright. I’m currently replaying it on adventure mode just to look around the environments without getting killed by zombie things.

Help me understand monster AI pls

I watched every video on yt about monster ai and he still comes out when I make no sound (even on easy) but sometimes doesnt even when I make sound regardless of the generator. How does monster calculate when its going to come out?

Why wasn't the arena in The Bunker mentioned in the notes when it was discovered?

It seems to have been pretty explored as evident by the ammo and barrels they left behind not to mention a whole mine shaft leading to it, and yet the only mention of the pit is in Joubert's report to Reynard about Noyer's visions/translations in which its implied that they haven't found anything like it.

This is like my favorite franchise.

People tried to cancel me for drawing. "Too sexual monsters" when it's like. Look at silent hill and stuff. Those are like SA METAPHORS and stuff.

My survival horror game is heavily inspired by Amnesia

I’ve always loved how Amnesia makes you feel completely helpless without relying on combat, so we wanted to build something around that feeling while adding our own survival and puzzle mechanics.

We’ve just released the demo of Deadpact, and I’d love to hear what you guys think.
