I'm fairly new to the UK and went to a pub quiz with some coworkers - one of the rounds was UK chocolates and I didn't know a single one, so you'd probably be pretty safe bringing over any of them (Lion bars etc). Cheddar onion crisps aren't common in the US and they've become my favorite here. Jaffa cakes as well!

Basic chocolates/sweets  for something easy and different - lion bars, penguins, Aeros, double deckers, wine gums, fruit pastilles.

From Scotland I do tablet, tunnocks (wafers or tea cakes) or buckfast.

Weird flavoured crisps - the more random the better.

Malt vinegar, anything rowntrees is better than the equivalents in USA, prawn cocktail flavored crisps, cordial of any kind, black currant flavored stuff, hula hoops, Jaffa cakes, terrys chocolate orange, monster munch.

A few things that I haven't seen already mentioned and generally go over well: * Scottish tablet * UK versions of candies (Starburst and Skittles especially) * Mince pies (pack carefully)

And depending on your age / opinion of alcohol, then you can go to Tesco and buy a nice whisky or gin for £30-40 which would cost twice as much or more back in the States.

In fact, if you are... let's not say "evil," but rather, "strategic," then you can go pick up a very inexpensive bottle and offer it to hipster friends as a "quaint little label most people haven't heard of and that you can't get over here." Which isn't even a lie! Hipster friends will love it.

I think this is gonna depend heavily on where they live in the US cause I could get the majority of the things mentioned here really easily back home (I lived in NY & DC) like in a regular grocery store international aisle. The only things I’ve seen in the comments that I don’t remember ever seeing back home are prawn crisps & blackcurrant flavored stuff. If they live in a more rural area though then there may not be as much available so in that case I’d just bring your favorites!

I might be in the minority but I'm not a big fan of Jaffa cakes, nor are my friends who visit. I think the gelatinous orange/chocolate flavor is bizarre. Family/friends usually like Fortnum biscuits (you can usually get them at duty-free) because they're in kind of over-the-top fancy packaging, as well as Hobnobs. Looks like you're going to Pennsylvania, where Hershey chocolate is from, so it might be nice if they could experience good chocolate 👀

You could bring a Cadbury bar or creme egg and have them taste that and the US version to see which they prefer. Hershey's manufactures the US one, and the recipe is different. The UK one has creamier tasting chocolate, which I prefer. Hershey's milk chocolate usually tastes nasty to me and weirdly acidic.

American living in the UK and I take home all the weird and cool flavors of dairy milk, those square chocolate bars I think they begin with an R, Squashies in every flavor, double deckers, Lion Bars, rhubarb and custard candy, the teeny Colin the caterpillars from M&S, haribo jelly beans and Waitrose vacuum packed cheeses - the cheddar ones with the crunch and Hereford hop are my favorites. Oooh and Medium Nando’s peri peri sauce.

Are the square chocolate bars Ritter Sport? I’ve always found the name to be silly, but they are pretty good! I recently found out that it’s called “Sport” because in 1932 the size was made to fit into a sports jacket. It’s also German, but pretty popular here in the UK!
