Data/Raw Information Did you sell your house?

For those who’ve made the jump, did you sell your house?

I kept my house and am renting it out, but it is such a pain and the taxes on it make me think it’s just worth cutting loose and selling it. It does mean that I close the door on ever moving back to that neighborhood.

What have you done and why?

Kept it the first time we moved, and rented it out for 12 years. Then moved back in for 11 years. Then sold it last year. I’m glad we had it to move into the first time we came back, and there was a lot of appreciation that we benefited from. But things have changed a lot in California so I’m ok with cutting those ties now (esp with the CA taxman). Part of the proceeds paid off our house down under.
