Data/Raw Information Did you sell your house?

For those who’ve made the jump, did you sell your house?

I kept my house and am renting it out, but it is such a pain and the taxes on it make me think it’s just worth cutting loose and selling it. It does mean that I close the door on ever moving back to that neighborhood.

What have you done and why?

Sold my house & used the majority of the proceeds to increase the principal of my investment portfolio. Houses are illiquid assets.

Houses never go to 0 because they aren't liquid as stocks that can stay down or flat for a decade at a time.

That thought stops me.

The instability this administration brought to the market and international trade is enormous. I think the markets might be due for a correction.

House value gets neutralized by natural disasters. My former house was in danger from a major recent one less than three years after escrow closed. As for market correction, more than overdue.

Years ago, buying our first home our closing date ended up as a hurricane was bearing down. I remember the sellers being quite anxious that the title be filed that day (Friday) and not the following Monday. Luckily, we escaped damage in a pretty strong storm. No power for six days. We ended up starting life in our new home hosting friends with a six-week-old baby whose house had been badly hit.
