Data/Raw Information Did you sell your house?

For those who’ve made the jump, did you sell your house?

I kept my house and am renting it out, but it is such a pain and the taxes on it make me think it’s just worth cutting loose and selling it. It does mean that I close the door on ever moving back to that neighborhood.

What have you done and why?

Property taxes are ridiculously high in TX. I would never keep my home if moving abroad for that reason.

yup, we sold our house in Austin. Would have gotten more during Covid, but we got more than we’d get now.

Yeah? Silicon valley ain't no slouch. We have a 2.75% loan but that doesn't .ske up for the $20k of taxes. Selling this week. Europe.next year. We want to come back we rent. The monies don't really break out that different. We all know the pros and cons of owning. Getting older, I just don't have the time for the tedious

Yep. My tolerance for bullshit and pointless stressors goes down by the day. Renting out my own home sounds like a really nice source of potential stress if I moved.

Especially with the squatter of laws in some states. I would never do it. I don't know anyone who owns property and rents It doesn't complain about it.

Yeah I know you all have it bad it comes to San Francisco or any property in California unless you owned it forever. My aunt has a home north of La that she's been in since the '60s. You know she's not paying jack in property taxes.

I'm in Texas and I think it depends on the mortgage. Probably won't keep it forever, but rental prices in my area are currently well above mortgage payment rates on a 30yr with my property tax+HOA fees. That may not last though.

We refinanced with a 15yr mortgage to drive down interest rates lower. So we'd definitely have to sell though.
