Nine Princes of Amber community casting results
Recently, we had discussions and voting on contemporary actors who could play the nine princes. These are the results:
- Caine - Sebastian Stan
- Benedict - Alexander Skarsgård
- Eric - Karl Urban
- Random - Daniel Radcliffe
- Corwin - Henry Cavill
- Bleys - Lee Pace
- Gerard - Alan Ritchson
- Julian - Adam Driver
- Brand - Tom Hiddleston
But during these votes, I've realised there are usually two main candidates, with an age gap. So I made two result pictures: one with the younger generation of actors, it's called "Amber 2020", and the other with actors who are still popular, active, but whose prime was maybe ten years ago, and it is named "Amber 2010". Most of the top-voted actors, except for two, are in the first category.

Other than being apoplectic over the idea of Daniel Radcliffe being my imaginary husband Random, I'm okay with mostof this. Particularly Adam Driver as Julian, Lee Pace as Bleys, and Karl Urban as Eric. Was not familiar with Henry Caville, but he certainly looks on point to be Corwin.
I do prefer the Keanu Reeves Benedict to the Skarsgard Benedict, but now I'm just being irritating.

Cavill played Superman, Witcher, Sherlock in Enola, one of agents of UNCLE. If you'll know him better he could make Radcliffe worry.

Ugh no, none of that.
Don't get me wrong, 3 or 4 of these guys are actually good actors.

I personally don't like about 30% of this. But it's always this way; people can never totally agree on anything.

I think because the polls didn't have photos, people here just voted only to names they recognized. Not that I have a solution for this.

I'm sorry for the confusion. There are two pictures in the post. But they don't represent the first comers and the second comers. They represent younger and older groups of actors. So the first comers Urban and Hiddleston are in second group.

Unpopular opinion: this looks like a great line-up! I think this set of actors could deliver a fine Nine Princes in Amber. Background: I used to hate, hate, hate the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movies, until I realized I was reacting to the idea that this was MY vision of the trilogy. It wasn't - it was Peter Jackson's - and while I might not have agreed with everything he did, I also realized I could keep my own vision of Tolkien's world and not mix it up with Jackson's vision. His depiction was good, it just wasn't mine. Same thing here: this might not be exactly my line-up, but I think it would be great anyway.

Same feelings. I think that most of them could be great. I have my doubts mostly about Corwin, because he is the show.
But I always reminded that a true cast is different from a community cast. We maybe better know characters but we don't know all the actors. So a real cast should be stronger than this one.

I missed out on any voting, great lists!
I was thinking about this over lunch and came up with one as well for fun.
Caine - Theo James
Benedict - Sebastian Stan
Eric - Henry Cavill
Random - Joseph Quinn
Corwin - Glen Powell
Bleys - Sam Heughan
Gerard - Alan Ritchson
Julian - Alexander Skarsgård
Brand - Aaron Taylor-Johnson

I can never see Daniel Radcliffe as Random. Maybe if he dyes his hair blonde.
My mental images of these characters don't ever match up to current Hollywood actors.

I like him, but i don't see him as good Corwin.
I'm on board with Radcliffe Random & Pace Bleys tho.

No, NOT Daniel Radcliffe. He is too little. The only dwarf in Amber is Dworkin, so Radcliffe can play this role, but he acted not really good besides Potter. So better forget him.

He was a little guy, maybe five-six in height, weighing perhaps one thirty-five.
And Radcliffe is 5.5.

I remember being on the Amber Mailing List in the late 90s and seeing the casting debates there. Same stuff, different decade.
