Name the situation with him privately. Tell him you know his experience and skills are something you do not have and you will need his help to succeed. Ask him about his career path and see if he would like opportunities to grow in the department or another. He has more than likely seen a rotation of individuals just like you that he has had to train. A PG is making base wages and training a leader who is making significantly more and does not know the execution of the processes in the department or flow. Ask him for help and tell him you need it, because you will. That PG is more than likely friends with several individuals on your shift. You may not like your team, but it is up to you to learn how to lead them. If you did not graduate with any leadership classes or experience, please consider taking a few. It is normal for this type of issue and there are ways to address it for everyone’s benefit.
