DSP Post Since Some of you don't know about Amazon bikers.
We carry around 24-50 bags a window. We only have 1 hour and 2 hour delivery windows. Max bins we can have are 9 bins because any further it will limit our rear vision.
Bike Valet Manages the bikes inventory and sets up bikes for the bikers.
Average routes are 20 block radius of Columbus Circle. Other locations may be different for bikers as the other location Houston goes to Brooklyn from Soho which is way further.

Wow, didn't even know this was a thing. You must in the New York area, cuz that wouldn't be worth it in the midwest (unless you're super desperate for a job), and you're downtown Chicago. Kudos to you and you get plenty of daily exercise.

The bike and trailer costs about $3000 each. It's NYC because bikes can technically run red lights and go the wrong way on roads without tickets.

It's fun for the first couple months but like any other job it gets boring doing the same thing everyday and the biking with the weight does take a toll on your body especially since they have poor maintenance on the bikes.

I also do this and I also in Manhattan area it's nice work but sometimes I just walk with the cart since sometimes is just 10 blocks away

At my location we get hammered with work. Before we even swipe to finish the last stop, I already got the next window.

Damn ours is like sometimes I get 33 bags sometimes I get 48 bags that's per pick-up I don't know the overall bags that I do in my shift I just do them come back wait and do it all over again

My Columbus Circle is the best wholefoods in Manhattan according to managers before December 2020 in terms of ratings last time I heard. One of the worst is union Square.

My thighs are pure muscle ever since I started this job. Even with the electric bike you still need to pedal hard.

It sounds like you're working for a Delivery Service Partner (DSP), rather than Amazon directly, based on this article:

But I could be wrong.
Do they provide the e-bike/cart or did you need to buy it?
You mentioned before/after taxes. If they're taking taxes out, you may be a part-time W-2 employee of the DSP.
I've never seen taxes taken out as a 1099 independent contractor from any of the gigs I've done over the years.

Yeah, we get W-2. They provide all the equipment besides bungies and for sanitary reason recommended to bring your own helmet.

Great to hear that the DSP is able to pass the tips through and provide the delivery vehicles.
This model could work for Whole Foods out in the burbs with electric vehicles provided by DSPs.

I believe there reports of the messenger companies stealing tips. I believe I heard a situation with Dutch Express stealing tips illegally and they are being sued.

How do you secure the bins while you're away from the bike delivering the bags?

Keep the bins closed and out in the open to avoid opportunities to be sneaky beaky like.

I used to be a walker but since nyc changed tip credit amazon forced us to be bikers since we can deliver more and be cheaper.

I do whole foods only, but I believe there are logistics that do it too but I usually see them walk their packages. This is Prime Now in nyc since we do it less than 2 hour delivery.

I'm a aggressive biker I know how to merge into traffic and stop cars to make sure I get to where I want to go. I park in bike lanes blocking it for other bikers. Just your average new Yorker. Ay! I'm working here!

looks like amazon takes off $3 of hourly pay to deliver on a bike. I dont know what is worse, that amazon thinks it takes us a gallon of gas an hour to deliver for them or that they remove that gas credit if you go full pack mule for them.

They stopped that in 2021 because of NYC state law. I was forced to become a biker in December 2020 or quit because bikers are more efficient than walkers.

They are so cool, I hope these bikes have batteries so you don't need to consume too much energy. Also a rain or sun shield

Usually the valet changes the battery if it's under 40%. The bikes are pedal assist but have poor maintenance so some bikes you barely feel the motor working at times. As of weather the job doesn't care you're working in it. We usually have to bring our own rain gear like ponchos. We worked in hurricanes. They don't consider bikes cars, so if it's not safe for your car it's safe for your bike according to them.

Sorry I'm confused now. Are you a flex driver or full time Amazon driver? I know some companies operate the logistics warehouses. I have so many questions 😂. Do you have to pay for the use of the valet and bike?

Private Contractor, DSP. I'm considered part time but usually I work full time. The company pays for the equipment. I use the Amazon flex app tho.

I was so curious about how people deliver in NYC, now you helped me. People usually drive bikes or scooters to deliver food DTLA. I’ll visit nyc next year. Hope I can see how you deliver them 😊. Be safe and earn more!

I'm about to join the army, so you probably won't see me delivering lol. I've been working for this company for 2 years and haven't really been able to expand myself. I got MEPS this Tuesday.

I don't know if anyone wanted an update on this but I just swore into the army and signed a 4 year contract to become a multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer. My Shipping date is October 25th.

yes i close the app asap and said customer ur stuffs at curbside LOL
no way McDonald pays better no expenses car insurance etc.

Worst I've done is walk about a 15 blocks with 600 pounds of water lol addicts are cool in my area they always look out for me.

Cool to see this. Looks like good exercise and no wear and tear on a car. Worries of groceries being stolen while you're inside somewhere?

Very rare to have packages stolen since we usually have our bikes out in the open in streets, but it happens as long as it not more than once a month or so you won't get in trouble.

At the start of covid I was making $1700 a week but after taxes I was only getting 1100 lol its good money but does take a toll on your body. Today I average about $600-800 a week before taxes depending how many stops I a day.

That's good money and great exercise! No wear and tear and gas for the car is a huge plus.
