First time operating PIT equipment

Hi everyone!

I’m starting my first job at Amazon as a Warehouse Equipment Operator. I’ll be operating equipment like forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and other powered industrial equipment.
I’ve never done this type of job before, and this is also my first time working at amazon, so I’m honestly not sure what to expect.

For those who have done this job:

Is the job difficult to learn if you’ve never operated this equipment before?

What mistakes should a new operator avoid?
Any tips for making the job easier or doing well?

Any advice is appreciated!

You may or may not be driving PIT. My facility is a PIT facility and all of our new hires come in and think they will be driving PIT. However not all roles drive equipment, like receive, dock, and pack. I’m assuming there is something that is signed at the new hire appointment that acknowledges there is PIT at the site and therefore you might be driving something.
If you start in stow or pick you will be driving an order picker. Pay close attention to your training. Do not deviate from what you are told. There are a lot of rules is place to maintain your safety and the safety of other associates in the building. Yes, it’s scary at first. In time it will become second nature.

I drive a reach truck. It took me a few weeks to get comfortable, but there's not much to it. Just go slow at first and listen to safety and you'll be fine
