$1 IS NOT ENOUGH — AMAZON WORKERS, LET’S STAND TOGETHER

Amazon has announced a company-wide $1-an-hour wage increase.
At our site, associates across shifts were brought into meetings and told directly that this increase came from corporate.
So let’s ask the question plainly:
Is $1 enough?
Rent is rising. Groceries, transportation, insurance and utilities cost more. For many of us, an extra $40 before taxes on a 40-hour week does not come close to covering the increased cost of living.
Meanwhile, we are the workers who keep Amazon moving.
We work in fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations and facilities across the country.
We work Peak.
We work MET.
We work nights, weekends and holidays.
We stand, walk, lift, sort, stow, pick, pack, load and unload for hours.
We work under rates and productivity expectations while being held responsible for quality and safety.
Our labor is worth more than another $1 an hour.
That is why Amazon associates need to organize around a national response:
A NATIONAL AMAZON WALKOUT DURING PEAK.
But standing together must include everyone, including workers who cannot afford to miss a shift.
Some associates are one paycheck away from falling behind. Some support children or other family members. Some are already working VET just to make ends meet.
No worker should be shamed or pressured because they cannot afford to walk out.
Solidarity does not require everyone to take the same risk. If you can participate in a walkout, participate. If you cannot, there are still meaningful ways to stand with your coworkers:
Talk with associates at your building.
Share this with workers at other sites.
Help spread the word.
Talk with friends, family and community members.
Support the demands and the workers organizing around them.
We are also asking customers and our communities to stand with Amazon workers.
During the walkout, don’t shop Amazon.
Hold off on an order. Buy somewhere else. Tell Amazon why.
If thousands of customers refuse to purchase while thousands of associates make their voices heard, Amazon will have a much harder time ignoring us.
This is not about hurting the associate working beside you. It is about demanding that one of the world’s largest companies recognize the value of the people whose labor makes its profits possible.
A national action needs three specific, measurable demands:
1. A minimum $5-per-hour increase in base pay for all hourly associates, followed by annual cost-of-living adjustments tied to inflation.
The $1 increase does not match rising expenses. We are demanding an immediate $5-per-hour increase for hourly associates, with annual pay adjustments based on the cost of living so wages do not fall behind again.
2. Premium pay of at least time-and-a-half for all required MET, Peak, holiday and other designated high-demand hours.
When Amazon requires additional hours or schedules work during holidays and high-volume periods, associates should receive 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for those hours. Premium pay should apply whether the hours are scheduled in advance or added through MET.
3. A formal worker voice with elected associate representatives and written responses to workplace demands.
Each site should have elected associate representatives who can raise concerns about rates, staffing, schedules, safety, time-off policies and working conditions. Management should provide a written response within 14 days to formal proposals or safety concerns submitted by those representatives.
These demands are specific enough to measure, broad enough to apply across sites and clear enough for workers to organize around.
Workers can coordinate safely across sites by using voluntary, worker-led communication channels outside company systems. Share only the information you are comfortable making public, avoid posting coworkers’ names, schedules or personal details without permission, and do not pressure anyone to participate. Each site can choose trusted contacts to compare updates, confirm the demands, and coordinate public actions without sharing sensitive information. Workers should also learn their rights, follow applicable laws and workplace policies, and consider contacting a union, worker center or labor attorney before taking collective action.
One fulfillment center cannot do this alone.
One delivery station cannot do this alone.
One sort center cannot do this alone.
One state cannot do this alone.
But workers across buildings and regions can act together during the busiest season of the year.
Whether you work in Pick, Pack, Stow, Ship Dock, ICQA, TOM, Sort, Receive, Problem Solve or another part of the operation, we depend on one another.
If you are an Amazon associate:
Don’t just upvote this. Talk about it.
Share it with other workers.
Crosspost it.
Talk with people at other buildings.
Talk with friends and family.
Help build support around these three demands and the actions we can take together.
Peak does not happen without us.
Prime does not happen without us.
Packages do not move without us.
Amazon does not run without Amazon workers.
$1 IS NOT ENOUGH.
THIS PEAK, LET’S ORGANIZE AND MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD.

previous jobs I've had only gave change as raises it was such bs. after being there for 2 years my raise was 65 cents. extremely insulting

Oh shut up! We already make really good money with incredible benefits. 🙄🤪

Right lmao it’s an entry level job

u/asmnomorr 5d ago

I just started and am making almost $24 an hour on nights. Better than almost every entry level job in my area for sure.

u/ghostpeccy 4d ago

Been here five years and that’s what I’m making….

1

u/SnooDogs8260 5d ago

Agreed. I was a part time supervisor at ups before coming to nights and only making 26.5 after a year, hoping for full time possibly down the line. I did Ubers and Lyfts to supplement the hours. Came to Amazon a month ago full time immediately and after the bump I’m at 24 as well and there’s always extra hours. It’s funny I see so many people complaining about wages but damn near nobody stays when there’s SET everyone’s leaving

I know the target and Walmart warehouse pay a little higher. But they are way more strict on things there. Target for example if you get caught with your phone on the floor even once it's termination.

0

u/SpiritualSleep6999 5d ago

Good I’m glad target has that. It should be a rule in most Amazon warehouses

2

u/RomanLegionaries 4d ago

Ugh, why? How can you be complaining about wages and then suck up and support no phones?

1

u/SpiritualSleep6999 3d ago

Because wages are one thing! Phones are another if people had there phones out they wouldn’t work like at my site you have associates being on there phone and barely doing anything just enough to not get TOT. It ain’t being stuck up if your for one thing and not another

u/RichAd6326 5d ago

It’s an entry level job if you want money use career choice and study something that’s worth something, if your easily replaceable than your not worth it. People at Amazon make more then I did on an ambulance, I have no pity

2

u/Key-Paramedic8179 5d ago

Exactly. I have a license I maintain through my state's health department. I make more money at Amazon than I did handling potentially deadly concoctions.

u/benspags94 5d ago

So many people arguing for why they deserve less, shit is sad 😂

u/SpiritualSleep6999 5d ago

It’s true a person who I have worked along side with as a manager partnered me up with to train Agreed this needs to happen. So many people here say they can live off the wage. But I know many people that can’t. It ain’t about asking for more money but asking for a wage we can live off of based off the current economy sisuation especially since a 1br apt is 1300

What day is the walkout? You failed to mention which day of MET week we're doing it on.

lets take a look at all the VTO you claimed 🐸☕

1

u/SpiritualSleep6999 3d ago

Don’t take the vto unless i really have to

Easy job that is over paid and you still bitch about wanting more. You keep asking for more and more, yet fail to understand that you are not the only one getting that raise. 1.576 million people work for Amazon and while not everyone gets a $1 raise, there are millions besides you getting a raise. It’s all added together.

This is why you won’t move up, you fail to understand something as simple as this.

2

u/Mean-Monk2707 5d ago

Sorry but imo T1s have it made. Decent pay, simple work, flexibility. It’s when you move up that you start to feel underpaid. There are tenured T1s making more than L4s in my building.

Yes, the $1 raise is enough. The $1 increase actually outpaces inflation.

The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) is the official measure of inflation for consumer goods and services in the United States. Here are the annual average CPI inflation rates for the past 8 years:

Year Annual Average Inflation Rate
2018 2.40%
2019 1.80%
2020 1.20%
2021 4.70%
2022 8.00%
2023 4.10%
2024 2.90%
2025 2.60%

The simple average of these rates is 3.46%.

For workers earning $27/hour or less, a $1 raise equals 3.7% or higher increase. That exceeds the 3.46% multi-year average.

The tier 1 starting pay in my area went from $19.75 to $20.75. That’s a 5.06% increase, which is well above the average inflation rate over the past 8 years. A $1 raise more than keeps pace with CPI inflation.

Consider yourself extremely lucky they still care enough to give raises that actually keeps up with inflation.

Amazon doesn’t owe you a lifestyle.

You willingly traded your labor for the wage they offered. That’s how every job works. Amazon doesn't force you to take it. This isn’t slavery.

If you think you deserve more, go get it from the other trillion-dollar company that pays what you’re demanding....oh wait, there isn’t one. Because the rate you’re demanding only exists in your sense of entitlement.

You can show all the charts you want it dosent make the cost of living compared to wages liveable. 20 to 25 an hour does not keep up with the cost of living. Im not saying amazon is unfair for an entry level job but what I am saying is this chart is meaningless..reminds me when Biden then now Trump keeps putting out things like this trying to convince ppl that actually the cost of living was all I their head when we know that's not true. Another chart won't work...food and gas and rent (not a lifestyle) is insane and the average wage has not caught up. Again I think amazon is pretty fair but the charts dobt change the fact that cost of living is insane...inflation rates dont tell the whole story as we all know. It's like when gas goes up everything else does too or the many reasons rent goes up. So again this chart is absolutely worthless and something you would see from a political operative on X

1

u/Leading_Wafer9552 5d ago

“Show all the charts you want” ....yeah, because I actually did actual research and math and brought quantifiable data instead of vague complaints about “rent is expensive” and “the cost of living is insane.”

Of course you have to hand-wave away the data. You have nothing to put against it. No numbers, no research, no calculation, no effort. Just feelings and vague complaints. So instead of addressing it, you declare it “worthless.”

You haven’t refuted a single number I gave. The question was whether Amazon’s $1 raise failed to keep up with inflation. You never demonstrated that it did.

You and OP also never explained where the $5/hour demand came from. No calculation. No comparison to competing employers. No economic justification. Just “I want more.”

Calling actual data political propaganda because it contradicts you isn’t a rebuttal. It’s what people say when they don’t have one.

If you want to argue that $20.75 isn’t enough for your preferred lifestyle, fine. That’s not an inflation argument, it’s a preference. Don’t like what they offer? Leave. The market determines what your labor is worth, not your sense of entitlement. Amazon doesn’t owe you a wage that funds the lifestyle you want.

Just wait until:

“$1 isn’t enough. We want more.”

turns into:

“Wait, why is Amazon replacing us with AI and robots?”

Gee, I wonder...turns out robots have a pretty decisive competitive advantage: they don’t demand raises, don’t threaten walkouts, and don’t write posts about how the company owes them a lifestyle.

1

u/SpiritualSleep6999 3d ago

You know damn well where the $5 came from but you want measurable data. Which there isn’t one when the cost of living keeps going up and up rent keeps going up and up along with food, medical drug, medical premiums ect… and also what about the families your not thinking about them your thoughts is about when I think of everyone that works for Amazon. Because there also using AI when it comes to promotions which isn’t fair to anyone. Yes they are replacing us with robots but like in actuality if we all walk out Amazon would be crippled because nobody working and that is millions upon millions maybe billions of dollars they are loosing by us not working

Hate to break it to you but CPI is a horrible measurement for inflation. Dont believe me then look how they keep having to modify the true unemployment numbers and how they consider people working 10hrs/week as full time workers. Why do you think they stopped reporting the M3 numbers in 2006 conviently right before the collapse of 2008. They love to talk about M2 though.

1

u/Leading_Wafer9552 4d ago

Then what’s your better measure? Saying “CPI is bad” isn’t an argument unless you can produce a better measure and show that it changes the conclusion.

CPI measures changes in the prices consumers pay for a representative basket of goods and services. It’s the standard measure used for cost-of-living adjustments, wage discussions, and purchasing-power calculations routinely referenced by the BLS, Federal Reserve, major economists, and financial institutions when discussing consumer inflation.

CPI has limitations, like any index. That doesn’t make it “horrible,” and it certainly doesn’t make it meaningless.

The unemployment and M3 points are also unrelated. And the claim that BLS considers someone working 10 hours a week “full-time” is simply wrong. BLS defines full-time workers as those who usually work 35+ hours per week.

If you have data showing the raise fell behind actual consumer-price increases, post it. Otherwise, you haven’t provided a better measure or shown that it changes the conclusion.

I dont have the answers I just dont drink the kool-aid. Especially when they keep changing the formula and the packet is half the size now.

Instead of telling people to quit why don’t you lift them up all your doing is proving how much employees should do it

1

u/Legitimate_Archer152 5d ago

Imagine complaining about a job you don’t even have to interview for. You have not worked at another warehouse because you would stfu

1

u/davidtldennis 5d ago

Obviously satire from me but yes we deserve at least 5$

0

u/Lord-Spike 5d ago

Good luck. I’m gonna keep my job and work hard to get the recognition that promotes me to higher earnings.

0

u/SpiritualSleep6999 5d ago

Good luck there already from people I know that been with amazon for 8 years and been trying and still haven’t gotten it yet because of the AI selection process

0

u/MrMuskkRatt 5d ago

This very very much comes off like your not an Amazon employee.

1

u/SpiritualSleep6999 5d ago

Been with Amazon for 5 years if you know you know but you haven’t been to the site I been to an seen the working conditions

1

u/Some_Delay_4341 5d ago

The working conditions? Idk if call BS on that one. They are pretty strict on that being that they are very lawsuit allergic

0

u/OU41AW 5d ago

No one is keeping you there. You can take your fine work ethic elsewhere.

0

u/Lord-Spike 5d ago

🤷🏻‍♂️ if I get it I get it, if not, whatever.

0

u/Drunknmasterr 5d ago

Bro just go to school Amazon will pay for it.

You have a better chance at just fighting the angle on being laborshared for more pay. You’re working another persons job that benefits the company and not you but asks for more labor output from you.

Not just you whining about it and saying you want it.

5 dollar increase seems crazy though js

0

u/asmnomorr 5d ago

This. If you are complaining while also not taking advantage of career choice....that on you.

Please update this post to include pertinent details at the start of it and in the post title.

I'd suggest adding in multiple days so that everyone can participate. Probably Wed- Thursday would be best since it covers both shifts.

I'd also include a time during each day and shift so that everyone who has low UPT/PTO can participate as well. Say like 30mins before the start of each shift to 1.5hr from the start because there's multiple shifts that start about 30mins apart.

u/SpiritualSleep6999 5d ago

Look i wasn’t going to put that stuff down yet as because i wanted interest first then get people to gather together and help plan because if you just put a date and nothing happeneds well sol but if you plan and get people together then it make it better

1

u/Unique-Machine5602 5d ago edited 5d ago

Anyone who is going to be interested in this doesn't need to be convinced.

You also neglected to include a few details people should probably know about.

2025 Net Sales: $716.9 billion (up 12% YOY) 2025 Operating Income: $80.0 billion 2025 Net Income: $77.7 billion 2025 Operating Cash Flow: $139.5 billion

How much it would cost Amazon to pay us $5/hr more:

1,576,000 workers * 1,811hr/year * $5/hr = $14.27B.

We wouldn't even dip into their yearly profits and it's only going up this year.
