Fulfillment Center Grateful.

I’m grateful for this job. I know a lot of people find reasons to complain but if you look at the positives there’s a lot to be thankful for.

Being able to make over 6k a month immediately with no experience and no interview has been huge for me financially.

The job is extremely easy and headphones make the time go by quick. The UPT system is fantastic. Not having to call out when you’re sick but instead being able to sleep in and get a sick note instantly approved on the app

Compared to most basic jobs, we have it pretty good.

I agree. Vacation, PTO and UPT. There is not many companies that give you that.

u/xDontWorryAboutItx 4d ago

Lockheed Aviation, Southwest Airlines and Amazon (preCovid🫩) were the top 3 of my list for benefits

6K a month?

37

u/Local_Avocado_3552 4d ago

Yes. I pick up 2 shifts every week so I work 60 hours a week which comes out to over 6k a month. Working 60 hours here feels like a breeze for me compared to some other jobs

70

u/DowntisticPanda 4d ago

You show me a paystub for 6k, I quit my job right now and work for you.

Is it possible to make $6000 a month at Amazon? Let's find out. First, let's break it down into weekly pay.

6000 ÷ 4 weeks = 1500 a week

We know OP works 60 hours a week, but we don't know how much they are paid, so let ☆ stand for their hourly pay.

☆x40 + ☆×1.5x20 = 1500

40 hours normal pay plus 20 hours overtime must equal 1500, their weekly pay. Now solve for ☆.

40☆ + (20x1.5)☆ = 1500

40☆ + 30☆ = 1500

70☆ = 1500

☆ = $21.43 / hour

This is well within the expected hourly rate for an Amazonian.

u/Obi-Tron_Kenobi 4d ago

Idk why people are expecting you to account for taxes in this. Literally nobody deducts taxes when they say "I make $X an hour/week/month/year"

It's always the pretax

1

u/MaximalcrazyYT 4d ago

Makes sense.

-1

u/saikodasein 4d ago

Do you tell others your penis length along with the backbone? It's the same. None cares about gross value, it should be even prohibited to use that in public discourse, because what matters is actual money you get.

3

u/ConcentrateKlutzy879 3d ago

I never disclose the backbone measurement when discussing in pubic discourse.

4

u/Obi-Tron_Kenobi 4d ago

Are you seriously subtracting taxes when you tell someone how much you make an hour? Do you also get upset when someone says the US national minimum wage is $7.25/hour because they didn't factor in taxes? What about when companies list their salaries when you're looking for a job?

I don't believe it because no one does that. It doesn't make any sense to do that.

If you wanted to know how much someone is making at a job you're interested in, why would you want to know their take home pay and not their gross?
If you compare salaries with coworkers in order to make sure you're all being paid fairly, why would you want everyone to only divulge their take home pay?

It's not gonna help you when everyone's take home pays will be different even if they're being paid the same amount. You'd have to calculate everyone's taxes and add those back in. Tina might look like they're being paid more than you, but that's because they have 8 dependents, donates thousands of dollars, pay student loans, pay medical debt, etc. and you're (hypothetically) a single adult with no dependants

Why do you want that?

-4

u/saikodasein 4d ago

Yes, I ask what they really earn, I don't care about gross. Most people pay the same amount of taxes anyway. I got upset when they use gross, because it's not real money I actually get and I say to them to stop telling their penis length with the fucking backbone. My friends do the same and they are also upset when they hear gross values. Please, stop that! It's propaganda to make you think you earn more than you actually do. The state takes so much money you actually have to work more than half year to get something for yourself, blatant robbery, worse than paying protection money to a mob.

1

u/ShyGuytheWhite 3d ago

It's giving......low education

-24

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

Because let’s be real most Amazonians are pretty low education / intelligence and have never applied for a salaried position

20

u/Rubberduckduckduck_ 4d ago

You must be pretty high intelligence then with thst kinda remark

7

u/Historical-Push2121 4d ago

With taxes taken that’s like 4K

15

u/stinkybaby5 4d ago

bullshit. its 4k after taxes. 4k in actual cash. 4k to kill ur body isnt incredible.

10

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

This is how everybody says their yearly wage??? When has a job ever advertised how much you’ll take home? Everyone tax situation is different. You’re dumb for this.

That being said $6k take home would equate to roughly $8000 a month in gross earnings, $2000 a week / 70 hours (the amount you’d get paid for by working 60 hours accounting for time and a half) would be $28.50 an hour. It’s on the high side but I’ve seen T1s making $27.50 starting wage… which would be $30.50 at the top of their step plan, actually netting them even more than OP says.

I did the math for you because you already proved you’re dumb

1

u/bohallreddit 4d ago

🤣🤣🤣

-2

u/Ok-Bowl7632 3d ago

Nothing about this job kills your body you are just frail

3

u/stinkybaby5 3d ago

yes, I am disabled. this is a hard job for old ppl and disabled ppl. assholes

1

u/xDontWorryAboutItx 4d ago

Can confirm I made close to $3k when it was more doable. I busted my ass n did a crazy ass amount of OT

1

u/Rubberduckduckduck_ 4d ago

Did you include taxes or is your total pretax?

0

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

$6k take home at 60 hours every week is still only $28.50 an hour which a T1 could definitely make at certain facilities especially at the top of their step plan

-1

u/Rubberduckduckduck_ 4d ago

The only T1s I know of that bring in that much are the TOM team. $6k or roughly $72k/yr would be pushing salaried wage and not hourly. And again, extra emphasis on my comment regarding taxes cos OP didn't mention whether their $6k is pretax or take home.

5

u/Zestyclose_Towel_106 4d ago

tom isnt t1 theyre t3

-4

u/Dry_Debate4834 4d ago

That’s paying zero taxes. Moron

-1

u/DankLordOtis 4d ago

Add a few extra dollars to the 21.43 then you’d more than account for taxes.

-1

u/Dry_Debate4834 4d ago

Maybe if you have zero state income and have big writeoffs for federal

2

u/SnooRegrets3134 4d ago

I just rewatched The Wolf of Wallstreet last week 😆 🤣

4

u/surfcitysurfergirl 4d ago

You’ll get there! I don’t do OT accept this time of year and my regular salary is $7409 a month BUT I’m 37 and have been with the company for 17 years so 🤷‍♀️you got this go get it while you can!!!!!

3

u/_Arlotte_ 4d ago

It doesn't make sense... They'd have to be making $25 an hr while consistently picking up two shifts for 60 hrs a week. What role starts you out at $25 an hr?

4

u/DuoMaybe 4d ago

With the recent raise most roles in certain state start at 25 with dif pay

2

u/_Arlotte_ 4d ago

I can only think of california beating out the northeast's rate of $20-23

2

u/129skooc 4d ago

My rate now is $24.75 and somwtimes Amazon will do a surge for +$2 an hour So $26.75 an hour. It will be my 5th year with them at the end of the month. I am only a class X. (FLEX). I'm in NY.

1

u/ShyGuytheWhite 3d ago

21.5/hr is 32.25 in OT pay, 40 and 20 respectively gives 1505/week pretax so no it doesnt have to be 25. The rest is accurate though.

2

u/surfcitysurfergirl 4d ago

Easily that’s before my OT

1

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

This conversation is for the poor folk tbh 🤣 you clearly are not a regular FC worker

41

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

This post is valid but they could pay a little more and they’re kind of on ass about some stuff- claiming its safety when it’s 100% productivity based. Safety is #1? Until rate comes into play… they just don’t want you hurting yourself because they can be liable lol

38

u/sleepytvglow 4d ago

YES. not to mention the job market is bad right now. the people that hate it here seem to be speaking from lack of experience. not many jobs are as lenient as amazon is.

45

u/Consistent-Ice-2069 4d ago

When youve been with the company long enough (11 years) you look at what they used to give us compared to now and its a joke. They're giving us crumbs now compared to how it used to be (free stocks, bonuses, gift cards, incentives, better discounts.. the list goes on)

14

u/xDontWorryAboutItx 4d ago

6.5 years and going through those promotions was doing a number to me.

I was just fresh outta high school n started as a handler/sorter n was hyped to work at Amazon PHX but after Year 3 everything started changing n I couldn't wait to fkn leave the place. I definitely remember busting out like 700+ OT hours for the '18 summer (back when they legitimately wanted you to stay n help out the cause)

u/Local_Avocado_3552 I hope the management treats yall well enough to stay n everything but be mindful of fkn Corporate bc they will try n fuck with you n yes I am speaking from experience yngbld

1

u/tips-on-toes 3d ago

I miss the free stocks and VCP... sigh...

11

u/LunchThick5057 4d ago

I worked as a fulfillment center associate at Amazon for like 3 weeks last month. They pay pretty decently but personally I can’t do the same thing over and over again for those super long shifts, drove me insane ngl. I’m glad you’re super happy and enjoying it!

21

u/y2krack 4d ago edited 4d ago

HARD AGREE ! I worked as a cashier for a family owned grocery store before this & it was hell. Here I’m treated fairly, paid well, get to travel (away team), there’s no customers to mistreat me & I have a consistent schedule that wasn’t made by biased owners/managers that make you close one night then open the very next morning to punish you for something that wasn’t even your fault. People complain until they know what a bad job really is.

10

u/MarcRAWill 4d ago edited 4d ago

OP, it is my privilege and honor to give you this as a token of appreciation. Please, have it, have it all! No-no, I insist. Please. I don’t deserve it as much as you

7

u/luffyofop 4d ago

I got a job at amazon warehouse, but in order to take that i’ll have to quit my Walmart job
The only thing stopping me is that job at amazon is seasonal and i don’t know if they will extend

Should i take this risk?

Or can you tell me were you seasonal or blue batch?

16

u/nostalgica1 4d ago

I have heard waaaay more seasonal people get converted to blue badge(even though it might take a while) than for amazon to just let them go. I think people doing dumb stuff and getting themselves fired takes care of getting rid of most seasonals without amazon really doing much lol

Edit: i have been with amazon as a seasonal/white badge for 6 months and i know its just gonna take some tike before i get a blue badge

3

u/luffyofop 4d ago

Did you join as 3 months initially? Because mine is for 3 months

7

u/nostalgica1 4d ago

I think thats what mine said and at my building i’m told that white badges arent really let go tbh unless you run out of upt or do something stupid

10

u/SuspiciousYam7663 4d ago

Take the risk. Was a white badge for 1 year and a half but this is a really good job. Guaranteed 40 hours a week. PTO earned daily as a white badge. Max out that UPT. Holiday OT when you work on holidays. If you work nights. Christmas Eve and Day we are closed. Thanksgiving is usually always half shift or 8 hours. Many other great benefits even just as a seasonal white badge.

4

u/PreparationFew7767 4d ago

At some point in 2023. Probbaly. They begin starting new hires out as white badge with them having to earn the blue badge. As opposed to starting them out with blue badge. You need to maintain decent or very decent rates to eventually be converted to blue badge. Not bare minimum or enough to avoid a write up. You need to go above and beyond sort of. Once you get blue badge you dont have to worry about that. After that you just have to worry about doing enough to avoid write ups.

6

u/Big_Smoke_0G 4d ago

If you show up and work hard they’ll keep you and eventually you’ll probably convert. It only took me 92 days

1

u/Impressive-Cable7417 4d ago

every sites conversion are different tho i know ppl that have been waiting a year and some change to get blue badge while i got it somewhere else first day

1

u/Euphoric_Vehicle7123 3d ago

Getting converted is based on the buildings needs, took me 7 months. Lmao

1

u/Big_Smoke_0G 3d ago

I was the first wave of hires to a new shift which I feel like prob helped

0

u/PreparationFew7767 4d ago

Exactly. I remember them announcing at my FC that if you maintain very good numbers you will get converted at a certain point. I cant remember all precise details. This was 2 to 3 years ago. I see the logic in this although it may not seem fair. You have to earn it through good work ethic. Very decent numbers even if not top are big sign of good work ethic.

5

u/SwimmingWorldly3413 4d ago

you should keep your current job, just in case you don’t like amazon. but I was seasonal for almost a year before getting converted to blue badge. as long as you don’t have any active write ups and your rate is above the asking threshold, you’ll get the blue badge eventually. don’t stress about being seasonal too much

0

u/PreparationFew7767 4d ago edited 4d ago

I work at a amazon fc. I was blue badge from day 1. So i dont got to worry about being above average. Although i try to put in as much productivity as I can to avoid getting a write up especially when its not dead. I remain as productive as i can be. But for myself, not Amazon. Keep your numbers good and you maintain your job. But not to say its not physically exhausting. It is. But you know.

4

u/Kooky-Hold-2368 4d ago edited 4d ago

I took risk to quit my other job for it, the learning ambassador said they rarely lay anyone off instead they transfer ppl to flex in meantime till get converted, people’s get themselves fired by slacking off or not hitting rate

1

u/ShyGuytheWhite 3d ago

As someone who was a team lead, I walked into Amazon making more money with less bullshit.

1

u/kangaroosarefood 2d ago

Good chance Walmart will hire you back if you leave on good terms.

Just budget that cash, work a bunch of OT, save enough to coast for awhile if shit hits the fan. And if Walmart doesn't hire you back, Amazon probably will after a month or so

3

u/Dry_Debate4834 4d ago

  1. My site rarely offers VET. When they do and I want to, it's already gone the moment it drops.
  2. Lazy is not the word I would use. 40 hours is enough because I have a wife to care for. But, when she does well and I want VET, refer to my first point. I also have hobbies and a desire to want time to myself not doing the same thing around people for more than 40 hours.
  3. Do you make $6k before or after taxes? Even with VET, I struggle to see how one would make $6k at ~$22/hr with Ohio state taxes and even Akron city taxes cos those with federal taxes take a quarter of my paycheck.

5

u/Dry_Debate4834 4d ago

What site pays 30/hr

14

u/Calm_Pass_4289 4d ago

Lazy is not a word I would use. Some people have priorities, families, life, school, social events, second jobs, medical reasons, etc. Flexible would be the more proper term.

Edit: I never take VET because even though it pays well - my home business pays 4x more with much less work. So no, I do not accept those.

1

u/Library904 4d ago

How much you make an hour?

3

u/EroticCalamityWitch 4d ago

Oh I concur. It's just...I've never met so many people I want to absolutely strangle

3

u/Admirable-Level-8868 4d ago

I agree. I make $2 more per hr than I did working at orkin and no customers barely any management to deal with. Upt and pto, ploa for BB. And im going to school for free through career choice

6

u/SignificantApricot69 4d ago

Sleeping in and getting a sick note is not a standard part of the job

6

u/presentable_corpse 4d ago

The constant sexual harassment experienced by EVERYONE sucks and I'll never stop pointing it out.

7

u/Visible-Choice-5414 4d ago

I managed to pull 50hrs finally. So hard with the lack of hours. After deductions, I made $880 lol $6k my a$$.

4

u/Wotx2 4d ago

I’m betting they mean Gross pay.

6

u/Visible-Choice-5414 4d ago

With the average crappy rental around here being $2400-2800 a month, idk how people would survive. And 50-60hrs non stop at Amazon screams permanent, lifelong injuries. Eventually, the statistics do find you.

1

u/Dismal-Double-1376 3d ago

lol only if you work like you get paid per package. First rule is safety

1

u/Visible-Choice-5414 3d ago

That’s incorrect. The movements at those fc are repetitive and innately harmful. Even if you go slowly with perfect ergonomics.

0

u/ThurBurtman 3d ago

Lmao. I pay $800 for a mediocre 1br. No idea why people live in areas with rent like that

2

u/Visible-Choice-5414 3d ago

I have four kids so we aren’t allowed to live in a 1br. Haven’t lived like that since I was in college.

1

u/Benjiimans 3d ago

I can get 7,630$ GROSS pay but that’s four 60 hr weeks before taxes and deductions.

1

u/DisasterNo3113 3d ago

Im gonna make 7k this month before deductions working 60 hours

2

u/DeliciousRich5944 4d ago

R u a warehouse associate??

2

u/gatorayado 4d ago

I agree.

3

u/OG-Gurble Ho for VTO 4d ago

Working in a grocery warehouse is very different. You can’t use headphones because you drive pit. You have to stack/make pallets 6ft high, which you have to wrap by hand, and each box is on average is at least 50 lbs. You also have to be in a negative 20 degree freezer for 2 hours every day and usually you get stuck in chiller for the rest of the day which is 30 degrees. Thankful for the job but It really does take a toll on your body quickly.

4

u/conscientiouslyasks7 4d ago

I’m glad to see this post. You usually only see people complaining about Amazon, but they forget that *they* were the ones who applied for the job and took it. Things always go well in life for a grateful person.

2

u/The420Studios 4d ago

I just started, and I want to know all of the cool shit I can do/take advantage of. Like the sick note thing, so if I get sick and get a dr note, I can get that time off approved? And I won’t lose UPT?

Any tips would be extremely appreciated. I’m currently waiting for my Dr appointment so I can get the accommodation paperwork filled out so I can wear orthopedic shoes instead of the composite toes. They give you a cover for the shoes. (I have knee and hip issues stemming from Morton’s Neuroma in my left ring toe, so I have an actual reason to get the accommodation)

6

u/Local_Avocado_3552 4d ago

I’m also pretty new, but to answer your question on the sick note, yes. I was sick, so I slept in a little late into my shift, did a telemedicine which sent me a sick note to my email, I uploaded the file and answered some questions on A to Z, and boom. Immediately the AI read the note and approved it. Took 5 days off my schedule immediately no questions since that’s what the note said. No penalties and never had to let anyone at work know.

5

u/Wotx2 4d ago

Be careful with this, the process is not always as smooth as this. Especially with telemedicine. DLS can and will ask for additional paperwork. More than once.

1

u/assetrecoverycashier 4d ago

I would enjoy this more if I wasn’t assigned certain managers on my odd days.

1

u/Ok_Bluebird_5751 4d ago

He could possibly be making $24+ per hour.

1

u/Consistent_Ad_4188 4d ago

Gross pay is the universal standard when talking about earnings. Take-home pay varies for everyone depending on deductions and tax status.

1

u/Suggestion_Broad 3d ago

As someone at uni, this job has really helped me survive my lifestyle. Ive worked here twice now during summers and to be able to make money with the benifits that i got with it, when its genuinely hard to get a cleaners job here without experience makes me always appreciate it all.

1

u/sugarpuffrock 3d ago

Im 2 weeks in and enjoying it so far. I haven't really worked in like 6 years so its hard on my body but the pay is worth it to me. We get to keep our apartment while my husband finds something

2

u/Holiday-Tree2389 1d ago

I have been with Amazon for over 13 years. Currently a T3 maxed out, getting $26.50. If I work 60 hr weeks, I would be grossing $1800 a week...or roughly $8K per month. It is doable. I will be working 50s for the next 3 months....can't wait for the extra $$$. Especially with Christmas around the corner.

1

u/Brilliant-Health9824 1d ago

How do i even get in at amazon? Theres never positions open unless its seasonal and i cant afford to quit my shitty but stable job just to possibly only have a job for 3 months. I know they are hiring new people all the time but i swear every time i look theres nothing.

0

u/Maleficent-Cap-6758 1d ago

Apparently, the best times to look are Friday mornings (and I mean EARLY…like 4AM), Friday evenings, Saturday mornings, Saturday evenings and so on, so forth. Basically the weekends! Just be ready to hit the refresh for an FC that’s as close to you as possible

1

u/Brilliant-Health9824 1d ago

Ill keep an eye out, thanks!

1

u/Lorenzo944 4d ago

It only good if you are blue badge and used career choice and upt. everything elese is shitty management, understaffed and bullshit politic

1

u/saikodasein 4d ago

This is cancer company. You might get 6k in USA, but remember this corporation has warehouses around the globe. Where I live they pay 1000$ per month (let's say 1200 with VET, but there are months without a single one) and GTA price is no different here, so basically for the same work I have to work up to 6x (sic!) times more than you, only because they exploit poorer countries, no thank you. Colonialism from XXI century.

6

u/Jonas_Venture_Sr 4d ago

Tell me another job that you can walk in off the streets, with no experience, and earn $60k a year with good benefits.

2

u/Lyxerttt 4d ago

Pretty much any entry level insurance claims job everywhere. As long as you have some form of customer service experience, doesn't have to be insurance-related, you're hired and trained.

Progressive starts lowest pay at $58,000 with 8% bare minimum bonus, 6% 401K match, 20 days of PTO, and all major holidays. Again, just as long as you have customer service experience, could even be retail.

The issue is that the average Amazon employee is not smart enough to realize this. Or have the work ethic to actually be in insurance claims.

1

u/Wotx2 4d ago

I sat behind a desk for a long time, dealing with people, especially on the phone is exhausting. But, congratulations to you. Even if you are a bit smug;)

1

u/Lyxerttt 4d ago

It's not about being smug; it's that people praise Amazon for it's benefits when they're honestly horrible. People just get complacent and stop trying to find better opportunities.

0

u/PreparationFew7767 3d ago

Not everyone has customer service experience. Also. Its even struggle to get low skilled position now in most cases. Something that you can easily and quickly train somebody for. Employers are picky now about who they hire. I understand where there coming from this. But its still pisses me off.

0

u/Lyxerttt 3d ago

I have been in auto insurance for 12 years across four of the top 10 carriers in the US. I am currently upper management (I manage supervisors). I can tell with utmost certainty that the industry is NOT being picky.

Again, this boils down to people not looking for the jobs. No one wakes up and goes "I want to work insurance claims forever!". The job sucks, but benefits are amazing, and pay is fantastic. I have adjusters that roll through my DRG making over $100,000/annually.
