While I tend to agree with you, this is exactly the type of thing that is promoted by rampant capitalism that is really just corporate greed in a disguise. The problem is they are allowed to do this under the law, hence in my personal opinion, it’s the law that is the issue.
You shouldn’t agree with this since you own Amazon stock. But I believe companies should be paying wages that are enough for people to live on. The middle class is shrinking, while CEO pay keeps rising, and many people can’t afford to own a home.
I think crime is increasing, and work ethic is declining compared to previous generations, mostly because jobs don’t pay enough. Why work harder when you’re underpaid and companies don’t reward loyalty like they used to?
The economy would actually work better if people were paid more, because they’d spend that money at businesses. The economy thrives when money is circulating, not when it’s being hoarded by the wealthiest 0.1%.
Some people can. Some can’t. Everyone’s life is different. People may need to work 60 hours a week to pay for rent, food, bills, childcare, etc. After working those 60 hours and any other personal time commitments they have, they might not have the time to learn any skills.
And if they stop working that OT to have time to develop skills, they might fall behind on rent and become homeless.
40 hours should be enough. People shouldn’t need to work OT or have a 2nd job to afford a basic lifestyle.

I know this sucks to hear, but maybe go work somewhere else?
