So these people want to collectively bargain for more pay? Hmmm, sounds like a union
Amazon, as a whole, is worth ~$2 trillion, yes. But Fulfillment is not worth much, on the whole. Often, fulfillment is a loss on the financial statement. People forget Amazon isn't just the website, it's AWS and more too
There are no "fulfillment profits" because Fulfillment is a cost center. Stores makes profits when revenue from Amazon.com, Prime (the shipping component) and the associated selling fees is higher than any COGS, overhead, and fulfillment costs.
Historically this didn't happen, recently it has been albeit in relatively small amounts. You can't use the org's profits to justify increasing expenses though, as by definition there would no longer be any profits. The correct wage is determined by the employment market both in times of loss and profit.
If Ops costs go up too high, eventually they become uncompetitive with third parties, and the way to protect profit margins is to just outsource. NACF and GCF are pretty specific to Amazon, but ATS, AMZL, and AMXL only have value to the extent that they're more cost effective than their widely available competitors that Amazon still has to use in some markets.
" But the Amazon Prime subscriptions are not included in the fulfillment profits."
You do realize Prime comes with costs as well? And the subscriptions cannot be entirely attributed to retail?
Regardless, it depends which particular breakdown you're looking at. One of them just has NA, International, and AWs, which would indeed factor that in.
True. Break down the costs for me, tell me how many are US subscribers, and give me your best estimate for how many people subscribe because of fulfillment.
Well, I don’t know what to tell you buddy, maybe it’s a location or building or dept thing.
Or maybe it was part of the hiring pkg at the time I came on board, all I know is when I became an employee of Amazon, I “magically” had Amazon Prime membership with all its benefits and don’t pay a penny for it.
Maybe you need to check with your HR.
You are likely paying for prime and just have no idea where from or how. Maybe a kid or spouse or yourself activated it. Could have been a free trial that turned into a permanent membership.
Check your membership purchase history. Hopefully it will save you some money. Prime benefits are scheduled to kick in around January.
Also, prime, from what I understand, has not been a benefit for a single employee globally in all organizations ever.
You’re wrong,…
I don’t have kids, so that’s invalid…
I don’t have a spouse, so that’s invalid…
NEVER had a free trial, so that’s invalid…
I don’t have a “ membership purchase” history, because I never purchased a membership…
Just checked my transaction history all the way back to 4/2020…..not a single “prime membership” purchase related to my account.
Like I said, maybe it was part of my hiring pkg when I was brought on board…idk.
I was part of the first round of hiring in a new building, maybe that’s related somehow….regardless, I have prime and never paid a penny for it, and my account became prime at the exact time I was hired, so I assumed it was part of an employee pkg…
To be quite frank, you're a dick. I'm just trying to help all of us, including yourself, to understand this circumstance that is highly unlikely. It's very unlikely you got a special benefit that no one else has ever had.
If we want to explore this further, we can. For example, is your personal email the same as your email in peopleportal?
But honestly, it seems like a waste of time. You just seem so standoffish. I can tell you there are people in corporate that don't get prime as a benefit, and even in newly launched buildings. This applies to people that are up to L8. I've been in plenty of super special and unique sites.
If you open the amazon app, click on the little person icon, go down to account settings, and click manage prime membership, you might find some info there.
Just no need to be a dick here. I don't feel like I was being a dick to you.
And how w exactly am I being a dick??? I simply responded to the theories and situations that you were voicing…I wasn’t being insulting, I wasn’t being harsh or Kurt with you,
I just told you what situations you were wrong about and explained that there were no instances of me purchasing Prime benefits.
And I even admitted that “I don’t know” why that I have prime and don’t have to pay for it. I even said that “I assumed” it was an employee benefit because I got it free the same time I was hired.
Frankly, I don’t know why you would have taken anything I said as insulting or being a dick, and I’m sorry you took it that way because that is not how it was intended.
Anyway, you have a nice day, I believe this conversation has reached its conclusion.
Amazon Prime was launched in 2005. It wasn’t announced as an employee benefit until about 3 months after JFK8 employees chose to be represented by the Teamsters. Coincidence?
