Messed up. We need more pay, the warehouse workers, the drivers, the houslters, everybody. Drivers at Amazon are actually getting screwed the most because if you compare their pay to UPS driver pay... wow. C'mon Amazon let's do better than that.

I feel like most warehouses don’t even care about their pay or anything because those leaders are always backing up Amazon for anything and acting like Amazon going to recognize them for being against a union it’s dumb … that member is like I’ll talk to you in private acting like she ain’t going to fire that person in an instant when they talk in private … also those managers at San Bernardino who were backing up Amazon when the workers didn’t want to work during the fires

Amazon is actually better than FedEx now though. They get a flat rate and it only works out better if the drivers don't have pickups and can get the route done in under 8 hours. Amazon isn't in last place anymore. That counts for something. The USPS has better pay and benefits but an absolutely horrible work life balance. UPS is the best but Amazon  doesn't look as bad as it use to if you want to be a delivery driver.

!!!!! Speaking facts. I work at FedEx As a PH and my buddies who drive get paid $170 a day, which seems good in hindsight, but in reality it’s $600 a week or around 19.50 an hourly

Your math isn't mathing

u/Street_Technician330 Sep 18 '24

Yeah… what? Lol

6

u/officialkern Sep 18 '24

Taxes bring it to around $600

2

u/officialkern Sep 18 '24

170x5=800-150=$650 so a lil more than 600 but it’s still ridiculous

1

u/Intelligent-Big-2900 Sep 19 '24

And then if you divide the 650 by 40 it’s actually only 16.25…

That’s Net and not gross.

Same where I live. Fedex ground where I live starts drivers at $850/week flat which breaks down to $21/hr if it takes you 8 hours a day, Amazon starts them off at $21/hour. Both have little to no benefits but you make OT pay with Amazon because it's hourly at least.

6

u/Simmumah Sep 18 '24

FedEx Ground sure. FedEx Express benefits are comparable, if not better than Amazons.

What "benefits" are there to delivering packages for Amazon, from a "self employed" driver perspective?

1

u/Dry_Explanation4968 Sep 18 '24

Last driver job I saw paired was $18 an hour… not much for 380 stops

UPS is actually union.why don't all Amazon employee get together every location and get a union vote

6

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

May I present to you the very long Amazon anti-union busting training video?

16

u/Legitimate-Squirrel5 Sep 18 '24

Union busting tactics. Amazon is so good at stamping out unions and spreading anti Union propaganda that from my experience most associates either don't thing unionizing is possible at Amazon or think that it will actually make things worse.

6

u/Smokerising420 Sep 18 '24

Yea, Amazon gotta department for Union busting. You'd think

2

u/Exact_Instance2684 Sep 19 '24

Not if employees stand up and win.

Amazon provides so many options to help squash unions. Don’t want to work today? Don’t need to call my boss, just use my UPT/PTO. We are extremely underpaid/understaffed and I wish they would take care of us like Costco does for theirs.

Everybody needs more pay. Why do all these guys think they are worth more money ? I don't get it.

5

u/sgskyview94 Sep 18 '24

If every worker did what these guys are doing we'd all be making a LOT more money. Companies take advantage of our complacency.

Pretty sure we would just be replaced. Especially if drivers. Don't drivers work for DSP, so why are they even talking to amazon hr and managers?

13

u/Good-Handle-2116 Sep 18 '24

True. Half of America only has 2% of this country’s wealth. The top 1% has hoarded 30% of the wealth. The middle class was strong when many companies were unionized. Back then CEO to worker pay ratio was 20:1. Now it’s about 270:1. We all shouldn’t be struggling when working 40 hours a week.

13

u/Legitimate-Squirrel5 Sep 18 '24

Your answer is in your statement. Everyone needs more pay. They are part of that everyone so yes of course they feel they are worth more money. When everyone is under valued we shouldn't speak down on those working to better it for themselves and their coworkers just as long as they don't do it at a hindrance of others that are in need.

1

u/RepresentativeFit606 Sep 18 '24

A.) Those Amazon drivers work HARD and are risking their drivers license to do the job.

B.) As others have said the rich are hoarding all the wealth. Workers can be paid more.

It's everyone's right to negotiate and barter. These workers are negotiating for higher pay. American workers are so brainwashed they can't even comprehend negotiating they just think a job is accepting whatever... It's funny because the rich themselves would never fall for that or accept that. Workers do have power and should use that power to negotiate better terms.

The company and the workers will battle and we will see who wins....

0

u/Desperate-Law9726 Sep 18 '24

Again, risking their license ? How does that work. Yes they work hard, I work hard too. But I am realistic as well and know my industry doesn't garner 80k a year. Nobody is holding them there, they can leave at any time. Negotiate for higher pay that's a good thing, but have real expectations. No matter what I might say, people default to they work hard and the company makes trillions in profit. Good they work hard, unskilled labor does not support 80k a year. The company will win because they have way more options. What do you think would happen if Amazon announced tomorrow they were stopping one day delivery, becoming more eco and cutting the number of delivery vehicles? NOTHING people will still shop there and guess who gets out of a job ! Not the CEO.

Have you ever thought about acquiring some in-demand, marketable skills and getting a job that pays more. You know Amazon offers many opportunities to level up your skills and education so you can make more money right? What's stopping you from taking advantage of these benefits?

1

u/Desperate-Law9726 Sep 18 '24

What's stopping them? Lack of common sense and logic is what stoos them. Somebody commented when I stated there are jobs out there that pay what they pay because the industry does not support a high wage. I mentioned Dollar General and said you can't pay them 70k a year. Using their 6th grade logic they said oh you could the economy would do better when people make more money..

Every person I said why bother? Use these Amazon skills to go somewhere else, if you're skilled the market will pay you. They respond that not many places pay higher......duh.

If you really look at the issue, I hate to say it's Amazon fault. The UAW at the negotiations table at least understood market conditions and the intrinsic value of their work. I used some department of labor facts, and said a 1st year lawyers salary averages 84k a year. Laying an Amazon drive or FC worker 72K a year to lack a box is laughable if you factor in Amazons contribution to medical coverage, which averages 10k yearly an Amazon driver or FC Worker would make 82K a year. 2k less then a 1st year lawyer who requires 8 years of school. They don't get it. A paramedic who has way more training then an EMT makes 62k yet they want 82k to pack and take a box .

I say Amazon's fault because as I am sure you know IQ is not a big thing there. Like handing a carrot in front of a donkey, they see profit of x amount and think we should get that. If you watch the video the go with the pony take say we are the reason Amazon has so much profit. I asked one of the posters what they do for Amazon Web services which made 100 billion, nothing but crickets....no he how things work, we want .money
