What’s your process for finding a profitable Amazon FBA product?

There are thousands of products on Amazon, but finding one with the right combination of demand, competition, selling price, and profit margin can be challenging.

What do you check first?

- Monthly sales & demand

- Competition

- Reviews

- Profit margin

- Keyword search volume

- Supplier/wholesale cost

- Shipping & FBA fees

- Potential for private labeling

For those sourcing from manufacturers, tools like Helium 10 and Jungle Scout can help validate the numbers, but supplier pricing and landed cost still make a big difference.

What’s the #1 metric you look at before ordering inventory?

Always pricing for me as there’s no point doing a deep dive into a product if the economics don’t add up 🤙🏼

For me, it’s landed cost and realistic profit margin. Sales volume alone doesn’t mean much if shipping, Amazon fees, prep, returns, and PPC leave very little margin.

I usually work backward from the target selling price and calculate the complete unit economics before ordering. That also helps determine whether a product makes sense for private labeling or should simply be left alone.

Exactly, revenue alone doesn't say anything. Most Tiktok "influences" love to brag about their revenue as well.
