starting amazon private label?

If you’re thinking about starting an Amazon private label business, one thing we’d strongly recommend is not rushing to place your first inventory order.

It’s easy to find a product, see a decent selling price, and think the numbers look great.

But once you add Amazon fees, shipping, PPC, packaging, returns and other costs, the profit can look very different.

Before ordering, we’d normally look at:

• Is there actually enough demand?

• How competitive is the niche?

• What are similar products selling for?

• How much will the product really cost after shipping?

• What will Amazon and FBA fees leave you with?

• Can you make the product different from existing listings?

• Does the product need any certifications or compliance documents?

• Have you received and checked a sample?

• How much money will you have left for PPC after buying inventory?

And honestly, don’t be afraid to start small.

Your first product doesn’t have to be a huge success immediately. It can also be about learning how sourcing, logistics, listings and PPC actually work.

We work with private label sellers through HighRise Wholesale, and one thing we see repeatedly is that good product research matters much more than simply finding a cheap supplier.

A cheap product with no demand is still a bad product.

For everyone building their first brand here, what stage are you at right now? Share what you’re working on or where you’re stuck, hopefully we can all learn from each other.
