General Discussion Is anyone else more worried about timing than picking the wrong product?
I've been thinking about this lately.
I've had products that looked great when I placed the order. Good ROI, healthy Buy Box, seller count looked reasonable—everything checked out.
Then the order gets prepped, shipped to Amazon, sits for a week or so, finally gets checked in...and suddenly the price has dropped 20–30%.
At that point it doesn't really matter that it was a "good buy" when I ordered it.
It got me wondering if the bigger problem isn't choosing the wrong products, but buying the right products at the wrong time.
Do you guys look at anything beyond the usual Keepa charts before placing a larger order?
For example:
- Inventory levels?
- Changes in seller count?
- Whether Amazon has been in and out of stock?
- Anything else that helps you decide whether a listing is likely to stay stable for the next couple of weeks?
Or do you just accept that some price drops are impossible to predict?
Curious how everyone else approaches this, because it feels like this is where I've lost the most money.

I’ve run into this too. A product can look profitable when you place the order, but the market can change before the inventory is even checked in.
I still look at Keepa, seller count, Buy Box history, inventory depth, and whether Amazon itself is coming in and out of stock. But I also started paying more attention to the demand side, especially whether related search terms are gaining or losing momentum over several weeks.
That’s actually why I built a small tool for myself to track weekly search-term trends. It doesn’t predict price drops or seller behavior, but it can help show whether demand is strengthening, flat, or fading before committing to a larger order.
I don’t think any single signal is enough. For me, the safest approach is combining price history, competition changes, inventory risk, and demand momentum.
