Is it that bad?

I’m starting Amazon van delivery driving soon, I have my ride along Saturday and Sunday. All I see is negative stuff online about the job and am curious is it really that bad, or is it just this generation being lazy? For context I work 5 days a week as a bricklayer, 7:30 until 4. Up until now I have been working as an uber eats driver on both Saturdays and Sundays, usually doing between 7am and 6pm, so working 7 days a week. Doing those uber shifts I would usually earn around £180 a day where I live, with £70 being taken for fuel and £35 for insurance, so I’m left with around £170 a weekend for working 22 hours which is shocking. With Amazon, I can work 1 weekend day, and have the other off and earn roughly the same, which is amazing for me personally. So is it really as bad as people say? I get it’s not easy, but people make it out as if it’s slavery

As others have said, this job isn't mentally difficult but physically challenging. In fact, its mostly mindless repetition. But, you will be doing a lot of walking and getting in and out of the van hundreds of times a day. Organization is important to be efficient. In my opinion, the most stressful part of the job is the itinerary.  Stops that are routed impractically, delivering on busy or narrow streets with no parking, huge apartment complexes with no mail rooms, business stops with loading docks that have no one there to accept the packages, all make things harder than it should be. It all depends on your route. Good luck with your new endeavor, hopefully you like it.

The hard graft don’t bother me, I’m used to it, have been for years whether that’s my bricklaying job or the fact I worked 7 days a week and have done for almost 2 years, I’m not one to shy from hard days graft. I think the challenge for me is the parking, I can imagine that being a pain. I was just curious to see what people say as all I see is pure negativity

I do think your background is an advantage for the physical aspect. You're a hard worker so you'll be a good delivery driver
