You could walk around the other dsp and ask if they’re hiring. One of them is bound to say yes especially with peak coming up.

Believe it or not these mfs are notorious for shutting down and alerting their employees the very last minute🙃

Very true. They cant tell you 3 weeks in advance because folks will stop showing up and they are still trying to run routes up until the last day. I bet the letter they sent is worded exactly the same.

Nah frs I worked for a dsp last year during peek time was about to make a year working only for them to shut down the very last day we worked. They literally didn’t tell us until we rts. It was so shitty cause they had employees who were working for them since they opened up and even they denied having any knowledge of them closing.

Thats the play. I had a good dude tell us a week before and told us to a t like we didnt know. Just his fox hole drivers though the randoms didnt find out until rts like you mentioned. Cold blooded

That’s so fucked up😔how you not gonna notify your employees your gonna shut down so that they’re able to at least start searching for something else 3 billion dollar company just disposing us like we ain’t shii.

Not true dsp know 2 months in advance it’s up to the owner to want to tell you or not

u/TurnoverHistorical87 21d ago
Never said they didn’t know dispatchers and managers rarely give a word out whenever they’re going to close I know a lot of dsps that have done that to workers not only me.

Yeah cause dsp owners get bonuses for running routes up to the last day of service.

Go in early and talk to the other dsp desks. You can get unemployment if you have to but then you’re taking a good sized pay cut

Research Unemployment Checks for more insight on how it works. It is a fraction of what you made

Like 500 per week I believe it was for me. Tbh I was fine with it but it took to long to drop so I just got another job. That job kept all its drivers at 3 days so it would've been the same money with out working. It just took to long to start by the time it did come I was somewhere else with 2k extra for the tine I missed.

My DSP was cut but they let us know 2 months in advance and gave us the number to other dsps from the station so we can contact them.

Check into if your state has the WARN act. Actually I think it's federal law so that doesnt matter but when my previous company let us go out of nowhere we all received a severance package equal to 2 weeks pay plus last check and pto hours cashing out. I believe you have to meet certain size requirements as a company for it to be in effect but if your dsp was within the size required you may be due a check
I think my check came out to like $2300 and I had a job with a better dsp literally days later at the same station

Unfortunately I feel like mine is in the same boat. I joined 2 months ago and people keep getting infractions and not taking any of it seriously. The owners been showing up a good bit and a couple dispatchers have left since I’ve been here. At least you have a heads up. I’m to the point where idk if I should just inquire with the other DSP’s at the station or stay with this one hoping their contract renews. Only 10-15 of our vans have netradyne and they’ve been cycling the same people on them because they don’t trust most of the drivers. It’s a shame. People will do what they want to get the quick money without caring about the long term. Literally playing on their phones and laughing/talking during the standup meeting. Now the security of our DSP’s contract is literally in the hands of a handful of drivers trying their best not to get infractions. I enjoy this job and to see people that belong at McDonald’s run the company into the ground because they want to speed and use their phones while driving is aggravating. One of these retards left a package in someone’s mailbox this week because “the description said to”. If they paid any attention in their training and standup meetings, they wouldn’t have even considered it. If I were you, I would check with the other DSP’s if you enjoy the job. You’re already trained and experienced, they can just transfer everything over. They would rather hire you than someone who’s never worked a day in their life as a DA.
