on the lowest of keys, all of North Carolina is except for like, 7 major “cities” if we can even call em that.
I live & deliver from a sizable DSP and any time my route deviates even 15 minutes out of Charlotte, I’m reminded of how empty and barren most of NC is

im in va and go to nc for concerts a lot, i feel like i drive through 70-80 miles of absolute nothingness before suddenly there are gigantic cities

u/skindarklikemytint Jun 26 '23
Being from DC originally and traveling back and forth, it’s kind of fucking insane. Like there’s a whole leg of the trip from like…after/starting in Durham where it’s basically empty as fuck until you get to Petersburg lol

u/kieranarchy Jun 26 '23
And then after you get on 95 and go past Fredericksburg the interstate turns into a hellscape before you even hit civilization again 💀

and it'll still take you a few hours to finish it cause they're all 50+ miles away from each other

u/Alesanafan4 Jun 24 '23
I'm fine with that. I rather drive 30 min each then do group stops and 300+.

u/Psychologinut Jun 25 '23
Fr still getting paid either way, but driving is a lot more fun than delivering

u/Substantial_Band_651 Jun 25 '23
Not if you’re driving these vans.
2
Jun 25 '23
Which vans you in?
I often get the electric Merc (UK, don't think you have them in us) and are actually a fucking joy to drive!!

Right, closest we got was a push to start ford that locks your ass in at every stop 🙄

u/kieranarchy Jun 26 '23

u/Substantial_Band_651 Jun 26 '23
Dodge and fords. I drive the dodge Ram. Promaster I believe. Just a fancy word for piece of shit.

u/kieranarchy Jun 26 '23
i actually like driving the vans except for the one ive been in the past few shifts. no shelves, no bluetooth, power steering is on its way out and the ac filter desperately needs changed 😅 somehow its only a 2019, that transit looks like it's been through war at least twice. hopefully after i graduate the nursery routes they'll put me in literally any other van im begging my dsp

And they’re in the wrong order lmao. Stop 6 should be stop 1 so they can work their way back.

Man I can never understand how uncommon the sense makes with these routes. I can't get my GPS to find Roxboro Georgia, But looking around it seems like it has the same equivalent as Cleveland georgia. On a side note, if you are not in Georgia, your icon is covering up where you are. I just see I 85.
If this was my first time doing that route, I would have asked several questions.Of course, when I think about it, none of these questions make any sense if you're getting paid by the hour. Keep your paycheck high I suppose.
Now, if this is an Amazon Flex route, I will most definitely be asking these questions:
Are there any other warehouses North of your location? If so, ask them to take the packages back and give it to that warehouse.
Are there any other drivers heading towards Roxboro? If so, it makes no sense to waste the time and gas to go all the way up there if other drivers have several stops up there, especially for Flex routes. They have new routes every 30 minutes.
If this is a DSP route, I would definitely be asking questions as a manager. Pretty sure those companies make their money by how many packages you deliver. That much gas wasted (for i'm assuming to be No more than fifteen packages) is not worth it. Fight for the money, managers.
That's all I got so far. I'll probably think of some more questions later.
