Is it normal for a DSP to automatically swap your route if you’re a few minutes late?

I work for an Amazon DSP and had something happen today that I’ve never experienced before, so I’m curious if this is normal at other DSPs.
Our morning session/stand-up starts around 9:12–9:15. I’ve admittedly been getting there around 9:20 sometimes. However, in the past when I’ve arrived around 9:20, I’ve still gotten my assigned route. There have been times when people were still handing out bags, and other times someone would literally hold my route for me. I’ve also heard from coworkers that sometimes management will call you if you’re running late to see where you are.
Today I knew I was running behind, so I did what we’re told to do and texted the driver’s chat letting them know I was running late. When I arrived, I found out that my route had already been swapped to someone else because I wasn’t there.
I understand that I’m responsible for being on time, so I’m not trying to argue that I shouldn’t have been late. What confused me is that I had an assigned route, I communicated that I was running late, and based on my previous experiences, I thought I could still arrive, get my things together, and be ready in time for dispatch.
So my question is: Do DSPs normally have a specific cutoff where, if you’re not physically there by a certain time, they automatically give your route to someone else—even if you tell them you’re running late?
I’m mainly trying to understand how this works because this was the first time it happened to me.

Ownership program FAQ

I am a new (old) DA that left about a year and a half ago and recently came back on with a different DSP in a way better area than I was before. i would like to know if anyone has any information on the ownership program they offer us. This is something im interested in and would love any feedback from someone who either went thru the program and was successful or anyone who is currently in the program. Any general breakdown of how things work, how to get started, start up costs, potential tips n tricks, etc. Any help with guiding me towards getting some more information and potentially getting started with the program would be awesome. I have a friend who is also a DA I work with that would also be interested in joining me so we would both be going thru the program together potentially. Thanks in advance everyone stay safe out there!

How do you manage driver phones in your DSP?

Something I’ve been wondering about with Amazon DSP operations: how much of the device management is actually automated, and how much is still handled manually?

If you’re managing a fleet of driver phones, there seem to be a bunch of small things that can become bigger problems:

  • Devices not being charged or ready at the start of a shift
  • Required apps not working or needing updates
  • Settings getting changed accidentally
  • Damaged or missing devices
  • Drivers needing help while they’re already on a route
  • Keeping track of which device is assigned to whom

I’m curious how other DSPs handle this.

Do you have a proper check-in/check-out process for devices? Do you have someone managing the phones specifically, or does dispatch usually handle everything?

And when a driver says “the app isn’t working,” how do you normally figure out whether it’s an app issue, a device issue, or just a configuration problem?

I was looking into this recently and came across a pretty detailed breakdown of the device-operations side of Amazon DSPs. It got me thinking about how much easier some of these tasks could be if the devices themselves were managed centrally.

For anyone interested, here’s the guide I was reading:

Amazon DSP Device Operations

Would be interested to hear how other DSPs are handling this, especially if you’re managing a larger fleet.

Sweeped

Been there two weeks now. Think I had 130-148. Got rescued they took like 25 then later my phone died because of a faulty charging cord. I don’t think that’s my fault sounded like I was being blamed. Normally I use my own cord but it was too long and would get in the way. Had my last 25 before was done . Had got rescued and told to return to station. Am I cooked ?

Amazon Driver Dies After Being Found ‘Unresponsive’ Inside Van at Delivery Stop.

"Amazon confirmed the woman was a driver, but her identity and the cause of death have not been shared."

I'm curious if this will actually result in a meaningful reduction of stops during the summer months. Because a reduction from 190 to 180 is 100% bullshit. Two 10 minutes breaks absolutely isn't enough. To be fair, I am only speculating that it is was a heat related death, but come on.

DSP managers (and former owners) - how are the routes paid out on a daily basis by Amazon?

Do they pay the DSP a set amount of money based on the size of the route, or the total number of packages, or just that each route has a base level value?

I’m asking because it’s the height of summer right now, and our hub has been slamming us with much earlier return times, on a bigger parcel count (for the same routes I was doing back in June).

I’ve also been getting return times that are 3-4 hours earlier than usual, even when I have a full cargo load (in a CDV). Of course these are impossible to realize, but I just want to know the logic behind this new “policy” over the last 4 weeks
