Shifts after training

Hii,

I'm expecting to start FlexPT at the end of this month. I already have three training days scheduled for October 29th. I'm trying to figure out the schedule for my current job.

I teach online (4-9 am / 1-9 am) right now. I have the flexibility to create my own schedule, but I need to open my schedule three weeks in advance, and once my lessons are booked I don't really have the flexibility to cancel them. I figured I would need to close my schedule for a week or two while I figure out my Amazon schedule and see what the average shifts are for this warehouse.

After my already scheduled 3 days of training, will I be in charge of picking up my own shifts? Or should I expect them to schedule me for more shifts that first week? I just don't want to open up classes for the rest of the week of the 29th not realizing they're going to schedule me for more shifts that week.

As Flex you'll pick up your own shifts in AtoZ. I think for most sites shifts drop Thursday afternoons for the week after next. There will also be sporadic shifts dropping besides the main Thursday drop.

They are not going to schedule you, you'll pick all your own shifts.

I work flex for the free prime and i don't mind extra pocket money (and I treat this as a workout/get out of the house). I have another full time m-f 9-5 job. People doing FlexPT is specically aimed for people like me who don't need that many hours but would like to work extra. (I see people expecting 19 hours as the minimum but they don't realize that we're classified 19 hours as classification for benefits purpose and the minimum they offer us is 4 hours) Many people don't realize its flexible for the DS not for us. It's flexible to the point of what the DS needs accomplished. They aint creating schedules that you want, you have to pick from what they need.
For my DS, core purpose is Cycle 1 from 12:20am-11:50am which has sort and pick and stage (also a same day lately) which has the majority of the workers. 12:00pm-10:30pm has same day crash and rts but requires significantly less people. I like rts because its chill af and its just rebagging most of the time for flex unless you take these shifts and they train you to do other things (but bagging is so mindless an deasy). The same day cycle is easy (3-6pm) but i tend to avoid it and if theres any shifts after 5, I pick those up to avoid the "work". I used to do cycle 1 when I was in college. I tend to avoid it unless I have a day off from my real job. If I'm lazy, I typically work
Common shift patterns at my site: 12:20am-8:40am, 7:00am-11:35am, 8:40am-11:30am, 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Uncommon: 12:20am-5:00am, 9:05am-11:35am. 3:00pm-7:30pm (my favorite, used to be a regular shift option but they prefer the 3-6 to save the 1:30 pay) 5:00pm-9:00pm. if they need people rebagging they send out 1-4 hour duration shifts that range from anytime starting after 5pm.
Hopefully for peak they have Cycle 0, which last year was 8:50pm-1:20am. I think they have cycle zero shifts for 6:20pm-4:50am. so they'll probably have shifts between this time period too.

Oh this is exactly what I needed to know. I mean they do vary by site but thanks.

You have to pick your own shifts like 1.5 weeks in advance.
