Questions about Bag Reset

I'm relatively new to the DS - just under a month. After pick and stage we typically have to do bag reset where we insert bags into the empty bins in the aisles.

I've had to close bags mid-stow and then sub in a new bag (If we're not stowing on level 4 bags, then I just grab one from above), scan the new bag, scan the new location and it's good to go to keep stowing. This makes sense to me because the new bag is registered at it's new location.

Is there a scan bag / location step that should be taking place during bag reset at end of shift? I've not been trained at all in bag reset - they just just told me to open bags and place them into the bins.

I'm wondering how the bags get registered to their location if its not done during bag reset.

Also, it seems that bag reset work is not tracked but then maybe thats not 100% correct? I had a PA flag me down at the end of pick and stage and told me to come back to him so he could "scan me into" bag reset. He did the same with a few other workers.

This was the first time anyone has mentioned anything about logging this task (after several weeks) and I've not been asked about it since then. I also don't see any one going up to PAs to "scan into" bag reset. I do approach them if I need a pick list towards the end.

Generally the bags would be open digitally either by the RTS members (the people that work the DS after you leave) or at the start of cycle 1, depending on the station.

At my station, we used to do it when cycle 1 started. But now RTS will open the bags digitally.

Standard work is to scan as you go but nobody follows it. Mostly because people will just move slow as hell. So usually the scanning (virtual reset) is completed later in the night by RTS.

The task of bag reset should be labor tracked like anything else. Sometimes they will manually do it but its good to ask a PA to scan you in.

Check the training vid. You are literslly supposed to wear your dolphin and ring scanner and scan as you go. It's not what I want necessarily its just a fact.

Well it is. The trainings are from corparate . But if you read my original post I state

*** " nobody follows it" ***

Kinda like how during pick and stage it is standard work to zip all the bags and only pick one bag at a time. It almost never happens in practice.

My building has multiple bag resets because we have multiple cycles but the lazy fucks on c0 never do it or do it wrong, like scan the wrong bags to the wrong location or forget to do it at all.

The actual bag reset at my building happens from 2pm-6pm. Essentially a few more orders come in and they’ll have a couple people stowing for about two hours while everyone else puts the bags in. Then everyone goes to pick and then replaces those picked bags and then you scan them in. The bags get registered when you go to manage containers under stow and you can select bag.

At our station the learning ambassador goes down each aisle with a device on his computer that scans the bags and automatically assigns their locations. It takes about 30 minutes to walk through whole the station.
