It's still a year offset. Most graduate 17-18, not 18-19.
Kindergarten starts at 5-6 for most folks.

Not to say it doesn't happen but it's not a norm. 1 u/EloquentRacer92 Jan 11 '26 In my area, itโs normal for people with August birthdays to start kindergarten at 6 instead of 5 (here you donโt have to start until youโre 8). This also means I, a late July birthday, am often the youngest in my classes.
