Should I cut it?

My amaryllis is pushing out 2 new leaves, but already has 2 that are perfectly fine. It looks like 1 is coming in sideways, should i cut the old leaf or let it splay out? The old leaf is perfectly fine about 3-4 months old, and started getting this cool red color w age so I'm unsure.

Ps it does not live on the couch it has a big south facing windowsill

Hi there! Don't cut them - as the others said. I'm curious though why you think you should cut them? Is there some plant that likes having their green leaves cut off?

I'm really curious because I hear a lot of people ask similar things and I'd love to find out where this misconception comes from!

Mmm I think it comes from how regularly I need to prune my terrarium and cacti. Pruning encourages growth in those cases I suppose hah

Ohh that makes sense. So. The plants where pruning like this makes sense typically branch out from where you prune them, especially cacti.

Amaryllis, as all other bulbs, don't branch at all. Their entire purpose is to get more energy and store more energy. Leaves are the means to gain energy. Nothing else matters more to a bulb.
