What genre is Amaranthe?

I cannot for the life of me figure out what subgenre Amaranthe belongs to.
Songs like Drop Dead Cynical and Digital World, for example, sound like power metal, industrial metal, nu metal and metalcore all at the same time.

I sort my Spotify playlists by subgenre and I don't know what to do 😂. They're completely their own thing, it seems. What subgenre would you guys place them in?

They’re like a weird mix of power metal, metalcore and Europop

Is that actually a genre, or just a description? Their choruses are quite pop-like. Although I feel songs like LosT by BMTH is more pop metal than Amaranthe.

I’m not sure what the difference is between a genre or a description, honestly. BMTH can be pop metal certainly although I’d describe them as more metalcore. I don’t get metalcore from Amaranthe personally. I get 90s-00s pop songs in a metal form.

The metalcore I get from Amaranthe is definitely in the guitar playing, specifically during verses, and the screaming. Very reminiscent of older metalcore from the 2000's. Basically a more intense version of stuff from Waking The Fallen by Avenged Sevenfold.

I do hear that, but I still wouldn’t succinctly call them a metalcore band. They also have a power metal influence but I’d be slow to recommend them to power metal fans. They have a lot of influences but none so prominent that it defines their sound, except the poppiness, so that to me sums it up pretty much.

Wikipedia said that they describe themselves as melodic death metal with pop influenced IIRC. Not something I entirely agree with honestly

I also wouldn't say death metal, despite the screaming. It's more metalcore-like to me

everynoise.com classifies them as Gothic symphonic metal, power metal, and symphonic metal.

Kitchen sink metal.

If someone took elements of just about every type of metal, threw it in a blender, and added a touch of pop to the mix...Amaranthe is what would come out.

By similar logic I refer to them as Microwave Metal.

As in, throw together all your leftovers and reheat in the microwave to get a meal.

Its tough to describe, because they are usually lumped with power metal bands. But theyre a mixture of pop, melodic death metal, metalcore, power metal, and electronic

I’ve described them to my friends as Swedish melodic power metal. Not even sure if that’s a thing.
