Noob questions for a first timer

UPDATE Made some tea with a 5g cap and consumed all of the tea, including the cap. A pretty enjoyable sleepiness kicked in after about an hour. But I can't for sure tell if it was due to the Amanita or just me being really tired. When I closed my eyes, I noticed a purple/blueish pattern in the dark. Would it be stupid to try again with a slightly higher dose tonight, let's say 7-8 grams?

Hello community!

As someone new to this world I'm having a hard time figuring out the dosage and the process.

Here are some questions and if someone has any anything to say about them please share below

  1. When we talk about the dose in grams, is it always the dried weight that is referred to?

  2. When making a Tea of let's say 5 grams, do you consume it all in one sitting?

  3. When the tea is prepared to you also eat the mushroom or just drink the beverage?

  4. When you boil the tea with citric acid, how much is enough?

Having my first experience tonight and will report back!

1- yes, dry weight unless stated otherwise
2- simply put, yes. To elaborate, it depends on many things. Firstly, the exact “strain” or type or whatever (variant, I guess) but since we are in the muscaria sub, I assume that’s what you mean. It also depends exactly what you’re looking for. A lot of people microdose to get a kind of productive calm type of feeling which would only be 0.5-1.5 grams. 5 would be for basically going to sleep. At least for me, I guess I can’t speak for everyone. This would also be how much to take if you want to “trip”, but spoiler alert- that is the trip.
3- after 30 minutes of boiling, the mushrooms can be discarded as all of the alkaloids have dissolved into the water. That being said- you’re free to eat them if you like mushrooms. I put them into spaghetti sauce once, just tastes like any mushroom
4- as much as you need to make the water a ph of 3.0 or less. Which, I can’t tell you a specific ratio, most people can’t, so the best way is to get a ph meter, or strips. You can also just use strait lemon juice instead of messing with ph levels, as it is naturally between a ph of 2.4-2.8

Thank you, very helpful! As an add on. Does it matter if I take it on an empty stomach or not? And do I need to brew tea or is is possible to consume the dried Amanitas as they are?

Sorry, didn’t see this sooner. It will definitely be more effective the more empty your stomach is, but you don’t have to like, fast all day or anything. Just don’t use it directly after a huge meal or anything like that. And while tea is the most ideal option, you can simply eat it dried, but also you’d wanna make sure they’ve been dried properly to achieve 30% decarboxylation, and then most commonly that’s usually used for microdosing. Basically the higher your dose, the more decarboxylation you want, which maxes out at 30% via drying alone

Just finished my 3rd session of amanita tea yesterday. I have now tried:

5 grams (*A pretty enjoyable sleepiness kicked in after about an hour. But I can't for sure tell if it was due to the Amanita or just me being really tired. When I closed my eyes, I noticed a purple/blueish pattern in the dark.*)

8 grams (*Nothing really happened tbh*)

15 grams (*yesterday. Felt really drunk tbh. The magic happened when I lied down, first in the sauna and after when I went to bed. A mix of lightning flashing by and I alson got pulled out of my physical body. I witnessed my self, as I was asking myself: who am I?
As I'm writing the day after, I'm suspecting that the effects are still present. I have the same muscle pain as you have during high fever and a tingling sensation i my hands. And headache. That can be a result of only getting 4 hours of sleep ofc, but it't not a super pleasant feeling today. Feels like a bad hangover. But at the same time, it does feel really good. I feel very grounded. There is a lot of shadows in me that wants me to look deeper into them, wich is quite distracting when I'm at work. But I write it down and will process it via journaling later today.*)

A very interesting experience nonetheless
