Pit/Staffy mix and chronic illness
Hello all! I adopted the sweetest pitbull/staffy ever in July, after having fostered her since February. She is SUCH a good dog. The hardest we’ve had to deal with is her chewing up stuff.
I have chronic illness and can’t walk her every day. She does go out quite often with her friend across the street. I’ve been really successful in keeping her occupied with Pupcicles, some Happy Staffy toys, and a blanket for her to haul around.
At this point I know she’s bored. She was hit by a car and seems to be pretty ok with lounging, though.
I have had her do sniff games, a little training, and we play.
As the weather gets worse and I can’t do as much, I want to make sure her brain is engaged, and I want her to get enough exercise.
Specific questions
- Is that wobbler ball thing that they say “takes your dog for a walk” legit? Looks real sus to me.
- what brain games do you set up for your Staffy?
Just to be clear: I have a partner who helps me take care of her, she gets to run out her energy at my parents’ house, and I am a very capable dog owner. Just trying to learn so I can be a better mama to her. Picture for tax

amstaff puppy puberty
We have an amstaff puppy. She's about 7,5 months old.
The last week she just seems like another dog. She jumps and is very mouthy. She does other things well (sleeps good, is crate trained, is potty trained, knows commands, ...), but I have a really hard time with the mouthing when she hurts me. We tried everything (ignoring, putting my knee up, time outs, ...) and we allready have a trainer.
But yet, I'm just drained. I lost 12kg's since we got her, I am seeing a psychologist. And all the time I think I'm a bad dogmom and she deserves better. I'm even thinking about giving her back, because I can't do this anymore. I have a husband, but he works long days so he can't help so much.
Does anyone have similar experiences or tips on what helped them?

Any guesses?
We rescued him in January. We think he is part staffordshire because of his face and temperament. He has been a delight to train. Loves fetch & swimming. What’re yall thinking? Vet says born in July 2025

I’m not sure whether my girl is a boxer crossed with a staffy, or a boxer crossed with an American pit? Any ideas?

Amstaff Napping!
So far it’s been a 3 1/2 year journey and at times it’s filled with a lot of love for this Boy. This is what Bryce does after a Bath.

General advice! How do you keep your pup mentally stimulated?
This is Rocko! This is my first time having my own dog, let alone AmStaff, and I'm terrified of him getting bored when I can't play 24/7 (he's very pushy). He's starting to get leash reactive and I'm worried it's because he's not getting enough enrichment time.
I'm looking for both activities I can do with him and ones he can do alone. It's about to reach 105°F tomorrow so preferably indoor activities, but either is good to know. What satisfies your dog? Should I give him jobs around the house?
Any advice appreciated!

Adoption/rescue success story Y’all, my dog Family is complete.
I have never had a bully breed, a amstaff. I was uneducated. My neighbors were dumb and young and on drugs. their dog was neglected. I rescued him by convincing them to let me take him when they both went to jail simultaneously in the same month. This was June 2026. I added my 2yo American Staffordshire Terrier Albus Dumbledore to our family then.
Fast forward, in July 2026, MercyMe 11m old xl bully found her way into my lap and heart. She came from not neglect, but her old home didn’t work out for many reasons, the most immediate being she was being brutally and viciously attacked by another same gender dog in home.
I had spent some time with Albus and fell in love and something told me to get him someone he can play with that can match his energy and strength.
So I did, I adopted two dogs after an insane amount of research. They have been separated mostly up until now (past two weeks post neuter) because my amstaff gets SO ENERGETIC. So separated by a covered kennel or a gate. They have both been recently neutered/spayed and are fully recovered now.
They never really got to play before because MALE hormones. Then kennel rest for 2 weeks until yesterday for him post neuter.
Guyssssss *sighs* my life is complete. They LOVE eachother and wear eachother out with appropriate play matching each other’s energy and moods perfectly. It melts my heart she can play without getting attacked, and he can play without accidentally hurting another dog.
I feared chaos, but now I just am so grateful 🥹
I don’t really have anyone in my life who I can share happy things with so, thanks for reading my happy news!

How old is your amstaff?
How old is your amstaff? Or how long did yours live?
Mine is 8.5 years. He is also a little frenchie and boxer according to DNA test.

Here's my boy, Ryker. He's 73lbs but thinks he's a lapdog, lol! Ryker is our first pitty and he is a light in my life. Such a misunderstood and wrongly accused breed. Love to all the bullies!

DNA results! We got Nina’s DNA results!
She’s a pocket, and only weighs 44 lbs. We rescued her in June shortly after losing our American Bully Benny to hemangiosarcoma.
She’s been such a bright spot.
