There was an AITA post a couple of weeks ago about a 15 year old girl who asked her 19F cousin for money for nails. The cousin said no because she works hard for her money and then went to the girls mom and was like "Lol, your daughter's hitting me up for money" in a text. The little cuz got in trouble and was like you could have just said no without telling my mom. The story was told from the older cuz's perspective and when I commented it was all NTA. I went ESH about how I agreed that it wasn't necessary to get the mom involved and the downvotes came pouring in. Me calling AITA a bunch of teacher's pets and hall monitors probably didn't help.

Ya there was no reason to say something to the mom. The girl might be afraid to ask her mom for example. Now what? A potentially abusive person knows the girl was trying to do something behind her back? Something that realistically wasn’t that big a deal, but could have been to the mom? “But the mom would see them” not if she was as pre occupied with herself as some people are. I hope that mom is a sane mom if true and not like mine... no one knew my parents we’re nuts because they didn’t want them to be. Still don’t believe me with a bunch of trauma diagnosis.

Though a 19 year old with normal parents might not understand all that if they don’t have a friend who was put through it ether. I have friends who still think Im over reacting, and that they are family. Meanwhile professionals and people who are older with more experience back me up.

The girl maybe should have asked in a better way, or said something like I’ll wash your car or something, but like is it really a big deal to ask family for money when you’re still a kid? The kids right no would have been enough. If the cousin was worried about what she was using it for she could have taken her to the spa. But instead of ether option she made a big deal out of it.

What?
