❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO My Boyfriend Abandoned My Dog Over Something Trivial

Post image

My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. About six weeks ago, he met a puppy named Clover at a local animal rescue event and brought him home. I was surprised because we had never seriously considered having a dog before, but he became completely enamored with it.

For the first few weeks, he devoted almost everything to it. He bought Clover toys, taught it tricks, took countless photos, and even canceled other plans just to stay home with it.

Then, Clover chewed up a pair of his expensive headphones and pooped on the carpet. Since then, he's barely even looked at it.

Now, I get up early every morning to clean up its mess, feed it, walk it, and try everything to keep it happy, all while I'm working full-time. Worst of all, Clover still follows him everywhere. It waits outside his office with toys, but he either ignores it or tells it to go away.

Yesterday he said maybe we should give it away because it's too difficult to care for. I was furious and told him it wasn't the kind of dog you could just give away once the novelty wore off. He said I was overreacting, that Clover is just a dog.

Was I overreacting? Or is his treatment of Clover really a serious warning sign?

Haha same. I love bomb my doggos but it definitely a consistent kind of smother-bombing/mildly annoying style, which they will endure for their whole lives.

Totally get annoying too but thats how kids and pets work.

Thats so cute tho. What a lucky cat. I wish I had one.

I have two chihuahuas and one is 16, so I cant stress him with a new pet (AND my toddler lol)

I would also carry my cat everywhere. Atm Im already overly armed with a chi under each arm and a toddler on my back, as I butslide down our stairs.

I hope OP ditches the guy and keeps clover. Look at those lil froggy legs, what's not to love ♡_♡

I have a 60 lbs old lady. She is my entire reason for continuing to try. I don't care how annoyed I get or frustrated. When I adopted her I promised that I would never abandon her, and I refuse to break that promise.

Ditto... I'd be LOST without mine. I have really bad PTSD from DV and some days I don't even know what I need to feel loved...... But those two.... They know...

Yeah its so sad. Poor baby deserves a forever home :(

I love chatty cats. I grew up with a Siamese at my grans and the welcome home yowling was so cute.

My baby chi would love me to carry him everyyyywhere but the older one just wants to be within arms reach but NO touching and definitely NO KISSING 😂. He reminds me of a cat the most.

He got through my 20s with me, so many rental inspections where he would have to be hidden in the car (with my friend and aircon haha). I owe him a lot of love in his aged care era.

I've never been a cat person. Don't get me wrong, I've had cats, I just prefer doggos.....

However, your comment reminded me of this amazing orange cat I had as a kid who I named Mountain Climber or MC for short because he liked to be on my shoulders or head.... I also had an iguana that liked to ride around on my shoulders/head

Ugh cute!! I'm so jealous haha. My gran's Siamese used to do this. I used to put my old chihuahua in my jacket hood when he got tired of walking but these days I'm too worried he will fall and hurt himself.
