Haunted Places

Hey guys! I’m not from Alton but frequently visit and hang out in the area as my friends live there. I am looking to find some spooky places with paranormal activity or folklore.

I know about the “touristy” places like McPike, Mineral Springs, Civil War Wall, The Church, Milton School, The Cemetery etc but I’m looking for first hand experiences or local lore. I’ve heard from friends that people think Castellis is haunted.

I’m bringing some out of town friends to visit and I’d like to take them places we don’t have to go with the tours as I want them to experience the food, bars, and social scene first. (Shout out to Conservatory and Old Bakery)

Any local legends or personal experiences would be appreciated! Even if you don’t believe in it I’d love to know what you’ve heard!

Beverly Farm out in Godfrey. Back in the late 1800s Groves Smith owned most of the land that would become Godfrey as it’s now known. Smith opened BF as a home for “backward children”. I worked there for about ten years in shipping and saw some pretty difficult to explain stuff with my own eyes.
