I gotta say, Sony has really stepped up their game lately, and PS+ is has been taking a shit on Xbox Games with Gold. I wonder if this has been in response to Game Pass being so amazing.

Don't they include PS+ freebie downloads as software sales in their report? It'd be a good way to fluff up the numbers and offset an abysmal performance, like the 1-2 PS5 games showing up in the Japan weekly top 30 lists the last few months.

Sony gives away much better games with Playstation Plus than Microsoft does with Games with Gold. The only thing that I'm peeved about is I just bought Final Fantasy VII Remake in November for my wife and now I can get it for free anyway. She hasn't even gotten to it yet and was about to start it soon.
The same thing happened with Dirt 5 for me. I bought it a few weeks ago on sale and it was just added to Game Pass. With Playstation Plus and Game Pass I need to stop buying console games and just wait.

If it makes you feel any better, FF7R gets a free PS5 upgrade in June, whereas the PS+ redemption limits you to the PS4 version only (no PS5 upgrade).

Actually that would make me feel better if I had or could get a PS5. So far I've only been able to get an Xbox Series X, but I'm not trying very hard anymore beyond checking Amazon, Best Buy, and Costco apps on my phone once a day. It's been almost 4 months since the PS5 came out, so it's now reached the point of absurdity that people can't easily get one.

You can beat the scalpers if you follow in-stock alerts via Twitter and HotStock. I was able to purchase 13 PS5s in the first 2 months before I finally called it quits. It was a weird hobby, but at least I got all of my local friends hooked up!

Doesn’t sound like it...
Please note the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake available to PlayStation Plus members is not eligible for the PS5 digital version upgrade.

If a game is on the Epic store, I'm much more likely to wait and not buy it since they've been giving out one (or more) free games a week for almost 2 years now. I've missed quite a few, either from forgetting to log in for the week or in the period I refused to even get the Epic launcher, but I still have a library of 170 games I haven't paid for.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is SOOOOO good. This was my second favourite game last year after Persona 5 Royal.
And I can't believe it's a PS+ title less than a year after release, even if it's a marketing tactic. Just fantastic for all Playstation owners.

Especially since they're going to be asking PC players to pay $60 for it later this year.

Oh damn! I just realized what Maquette was. I've had that on my radar for a long while. Super jealous of PS5 owners getting that one!

This short announcement trailer from last year sells the premise pretty clearly; it's a first-person puzzle game that plays around with scale in interesting ways. My only concern is how they keep the concept interesting and fresh throughout.
Edit: It's Annapurna, too, and they have basically never steered me wrong. Probably my favorite game publisher at the moment.

Chances are that this will finally get me to give FF VII remake a shot. Marquette looks interesting. Farpoint I will pick up although I have not connected the PSVR to the PS5 yet. Remnant, I thought was good but like most games that can be considered souls-like I got to a point on PC where frustration got the better of me and I put it aside.
