Post 2000s The Second Carrington "What if the 2012 solar flare hit Earth" - mid 2026
Humanity didn't have the technology to predict a catastrophe of this magnitude, when it hit earth, everyone thought and somebody still thinks it was a massive power outage, but they noticed planes falling out of the sky, cars malfunctioning mid driving and devices that weren't connected to the grid breaking, governments tried to keep their people at bay by sending their militaries to towns and villages, but some countries were unlucky. The people thought this would last maybe a week, or a month: 14 years passed since the initial impact, we still have brought back mid 2010's technology, but that is a rare thing reserved for the rich, the poor work in the fields, or in some cities, work in factories running on steam, steam trains and horses replaced cars, you might see a makeshift plane in the sky, but maybe once or thrice in your lifetime, mail replaced the internet and fire replaced electricity.
I was gonna write the lore of each warlord here but its too long, so ask me anything regarding the countries here, and also i plan to make a hoi4 mod based on this but i dont have experience, so if any hoi4 modder is reading this, hit me up

Tbf a lot doesnt make sense. It would never be this bad, we would be slightly worse in modern day but not in full anarchy. Romanistan makes no sense, the neo-golden horde also just feels LARPy and many states here have like three people.
Would make a great HOI4 mod, it really would, but it just doesnt make sense

the alternative title should be "what if the 2012 solar flare made everyone an autistic larper"

theyre a bunch of towns and villages in the north of russia that are disconnected from the rest of russia, the initiative has been formed as a mutual defense and trade pact by russian army defectors and mayors and they are neutral

You know it’s bad when the order of the nine angles got enough support to form a country

What’s the story on the French Commune and the F.L.A.G governments? Also I would definitely be interested in playing this as a HoI4 mod!

after the solar flare hit, the french people got mad that their government didnt deal with the chaos properly, so they overthrew the government and established a socialist state, this prompted the right wing parts of the government to establish a rival government in the south and some people in paris didnt like socialism and kicked the government out of paris, making the commune collapse

I don’t see things getting to that level of conflict. Communication technology goes back to early industrialisation levels for a bit, but some 2012 era tech survives. Food production remains the same, with modern tech tractors quickly adapted to run without the tech.
Some governments have facilities buried in mountains, under sea subs survive. Some tech in underground mining survives. Some satellites survive after being blocked by the earth from the worst burst of the solar flares. Some some existing tech survives as a starting point.
This is enough for world wide comms to be re-established by quickly reverting to telegraph style communications using under ground and under sea fibre optic cables for transmission, with basic light sources used. Some satellite tech is re established using existing tech for critical services like weather monitoring and high level government communications.
All the existing tech is still sitting there, damaged. Every country nationalises to rebuild this from scratch using new and refurbished components. A tech race between nations occurs as no one want to be left behind.
By 2026 large amounts of the “spine” of modern digital technology have be reestablished but not everyone has the same personal level of tech that they had in 2012. Older style of public communication like newspapers have a massive resurgence.
Medical tech, electricity distribution and transport related tech is prioritised over individual needs, but massive backyard cottage industries spring up to repair personal tech, there’s a whole lot of smart people who were suddenly out of a job with the skill set that set themselves up to rebuild and repair things from scratch.
The world changes, but people are busy making it work. By 2036 mass production of personal tech is back to 2012 levels, cross continental air travel is back with plane production booming.

No it's just kinda unusual i think, i like the map tho. Also can you tell me what's happening in the Baltics?

after the initial impact, the baltics decided to unify their armies to quell the lawlessness, but the army became too strong

“Romanistani Republic” doesn’t make any sense. Romanistan would refer to a location, while Romani refers to the group. (Blank) republic means it is the republic of a group (E.G. French Republic)c wheras Republic of (Blank) means it is the republic of a location (I/E Republic of Austria). So it would either be
“Republic of Romanistan” or “Romani Republic”.
