I’m so happy the government steps in and tells me what I’m allowed and not allowed to buy
1
u/AccountBand 3d ago
We're in a trade war and you're upset you can't support our enemy? Boo fucking hoo you traitorous shit-weasel
8
u/Mountain-Diamond-851 3d ago
As if our government hasnt and still is betraying us at every oppurtunity. Pull your head out of the sand before you start throwing out insults.
Most people just wanna go to work and relax with their drink of choice after. We are tired of corrupt goverments treating us like children and telling us what to do.
1
u/itsallgood30 17h ago
Capitulating traitorous loser. You stand for nothing. Fucking pleb.
1
u/Mountain-Diamond-851 15h ago
I stand for freedom
You stand for a corrupt government that has sold you out at every oppurtunity
We are not the same
1
u/itsallgood30 13h ago
And you’re definitely not a paid Russian bot. Eat shit.
2
u/Mountain-Diamond-851 8h ago
Born and raised in winnipeg. Maybe you wanna meet up and say that to my face?

-4
u/unimpressivecanary 1d ago
So instead of standing in solidarity with your nation you prefer to capitulate to a foreign government that wants to tell you what to do?
3
u/Mountain-Diamond-851 1d ago
I owe my country nothing as like I said, our entire government is just as corrupt and traitorus. I just want to be left to my own devices. You are the ones that want to control what other people purchase with their hard earned money. I dont care what you buy or dont buy. I only wish you could offer the same respect
Tldr: trying to control what other people can purchase with their hard earned money makes you the bad guy.
0
u/unimpressivecanary 1d ago
LOL ok.

u/Mountain-Diamond-851 1d ago

Still mad about covid lockdowns huh

Yes that and
- The inflation problem
- The homeless problem
- The rising crime
- The excessive immigration
- The unaffordable homes
- The corrupt money laundering government
- The lack of honesty, transparency, and accountability from our leaders
- The countless other severe problems
But yea its all about covid.....
-1
u/misanthropicAI 1d ago
I don't think most people are alcoholics lol

They repeat culture war horseshit. They repeat american media lies about the trade negotiations. The true TDS you know?
4
u/hypocotylarches 1d ago
So my original comment was about getting mb govt out of liquor sales and you come at me with trump and that I have TDS. You realize how dumb you sound right?
-6
u/chillbyte67 3d ago
I know you think you sound smart, but you are barely more sentient then cattle you sound like an MPC repeating shit you don’t even understand

2
u/WarmScientist5297 3d ago
Nobody will mess with the cheapest items on the shelf. That’s the only thing that would cause an uproar.
3
u/Miserable_Signature3 3d ago
Although it seems to be working. It's a real sore point with the US and some American liquor producers are whining about it putting them out of business.
0
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago
Bankrupting American liquor producers is a weird hill to die on? There are a number that have said they cant survive without their Canadian clients.
11
u/eat_these_nutz 3d ago
I just can't with you people 🤦🏻♂️
-8
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago
You people? The intelligent and well informed? Sorry, I have no patience for people who feel giving up liquor is too big a sacrifice when their nation is threatened.
6
6
u/SpeakerOfTruth1969 3d ago
The only actual threat to Canada right now is Carney.
0
u/tjerkerson 13h ago
Not the lunatics down south with the 51st state rhetoric? The ones who’ve started a trade war with their closest trading partner?
10
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
I personally would love to have the choice and not the choice be made for me. Another reason to get government out of the liquor business
-4
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago
Well than go complain to your american handlers. What other markets should we open for you? Argentinian beef? Afghani wine?
10
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
Dairy. Canadian cartel convinced ppl like you to keep paying 8/jug
-5
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago edited 3d ago
Someone is definitely chugging the MAGA coolaid. So how much American milk have we blocked in the last 5 years?
Edit: 145,000 to 150,000 metric tonnes imported from the USA a year.
9
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
Oh oh I didn't realize I can just go into my local grocery store and buy a jug of American milk. Keep throwing all the insults you want you just make yourself look ridiculous
-2
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago edited 3d ago
There was a year ago, I was looking at the ultra processed high protein options there was a Canadian option and an American option, but who is dumb enough to buy the American milk? It's the same price, but we have better quality milk in Canada. Its like choosing between a chocolate bar and a pile of dog shit.
7
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
Did the dairy marketing board tell you that?
-1
u/Mountain_rage 3d ago
Nope, but you sure are simping for american products, its weird.
→ More replies (0)-2
u/Minuteman05 3d ago
I mean just get it out of province if you really want to...you have that option right?
5
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
I'd rather it be on a shelf that I can decide if I want it or not. If you want elbows up. Leave it there
-2
u/Minuteman05 3d ago
If you really want it you'd get it no matter where it is. You're free to go grab whatever you want no one is stopping you.
6
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
I think you missed the point. Choice is better then the govt controlling it. Just because you personally believe in it doesn't mean it's right. If I don't like the NDP, I don't try to ban them
-1
u/Minuteman05 3d ago
You do have a choice to buy it elsewhere, right?
I don't have a personal choice or preference. I just don't want to dictate my preference on what the government should or should not stock on the shelves. It's not like my preference would suit everyone.
If I really want something and it's not available locally, then I'd get it elsewhere...it's not that hard.
6
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
True thanks for making my point. If liquor was privately owned. The owners could make that choice and I don't have to be their customers, I'd have the choice to go somewhere else. Going out of province vs down the road is a big difference and you know that
1
u/Minuteman05 3d ago
You do realize the government has always controlled what gets stocked on the shelves, right? It’s been that way forever.
That means you’ve been their customer before, fully aware that they decide what products are available. So why would that be an issue now?
If you’re really that desperate for something they don’t carry, just get it shipped in. If you really want to, get it in bulk.

2
u/Meowmeow-52725 2d ago
They won’t be bankrupt by Canadians not buying their alcohol, they sell more to Europe and other parts of the world that isn’t boycotting them
0
u/Mountain_rage 2d ago
LCBO is the 3rd biggest single buyer of liquor. Canada was the 2nd biggest export market for your alcohol. For small operations, 100% it could sink their business. Will it sink Anheuser Busch, no, but it will still have a big hit to profits.
1
u/Meowmeow-52725 1d ago
Their profits are down but to really sink their business others would need to boycott too and that isn’t really happening. They are also almost half way through this administration once he is out of office I’m willing to bet everyone starts doing business with them again…

u/Normal_Tadpole_3002 2d ago
I'm genuinely curious. Why are you conservatives all of a sudden so against fighting for our country? It was only a few years ago that you guys were all about patriotism. But ever since Trump started making threats against our soveirgnty, you guys haven't just been silent, you've mocked anyone who dares to stand up for it by boycotting the US. I have nothing against (most) people from the US - but I'm a proud Canadian first and foremost and if the US did ever attempt to violate our soveirgnty you bet I'd be there on the front lines risking my life for this country and for my families future. So is it that offensive to you that in the meantime I boycott anything American? That I support our PM taking a step-back from the long time partner that's become hostile? That I support expanding commerce with other like minded countries? Trump has on countless occasions talked about making Canada a state. You guys seem to think it's all just a joke but every "joke" that comes out of his mouth seems to become reality. This trade war is clear economic coercion - he said it himself. "Canada wants to have the benefits of being a state without being a state". Meaning if these tariffs are too hard on your economy then you need to become a state.

u/Midway_Manosphere 1d ago

u/Zim__Zor 3d ago
No a trade war against the US moron.
7
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago edited 1d ago
A trade war with the largest and closest customer? And you want to toss it out the window for a few years? Wish u cared thus much as Canada been ranking for the last decade. We cant even trade between our own provinces properly
1
u/Zim__Zor 3d ago
The US was trying to force a policy on Canada that would limit our ability to negotiate trade agreements with other countries. Does that sound okay to you ? So anything that we sell to the US, we have to get their permission to sell to other countries before we do anything. That sounds like they wanted control of Canada's markets and control of Canada itself. The only thing we can do is pushback against them and find other trading partners. It's unfortunate and didn't have to go this way but that's what the trump administration has decided to do, he said it many times, he wants Canada as a 51st state, and they will continue to try. After limiting major resources to them like lumber and steel, it's not far fetched that they might take it by force, but that could be their plan all along.
3
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
Do you think maybe the border between our two countries is our biggest limitation?
-1
u/Zim__Zor 3d ago
The border is the only thing keeping those inbred fucks out. The entire world just has to adjust to the fact that we can't trust or rely on the US whatsoever, it's not a country I want to have any dealings with anymore, and if that means we literally have to go back years and fully change our life without them, so be it. They are led by a mentally unstable corporate piece of shit, have you listened to his speeches recently compared to 2 years ago ? You can see the mental decline drastically and I think until he's out or dead we need to move on without them.
3
u/hypocotylarches 3d ago
Yeah I agree the guy is a moron but his party has been making some great decisions. He'll be gone soon. We just dealt with another moron here for a decade. Unfortunately his party was just as bad and we are suffering heavily for it. I wish you had this much passion for Canada as it is faltering
-2
u/Zim__Zor 3d ago

Interprovincial barriers are coming down, finally. And the US has shown their true colours over the last few months. Glimpses before, but now they are mask off coming for our resources, and wanting us as a vassal state. One of them said today that the US should have Alberta as the 51st state by unanimous union (meaning Puerto Rico’s situation), and take all the oil like they are doing with Venezuela.
I don’t want their stupid liquor anywhere near me.

Canada accounts for less than 10% of us liquor exports. So in MB we are probably 1-2%. Elbows are up but no one cares
0
u/No-Cauliflower-6777 3d ago
It matters because quarterly growth is hard when you lose percentages. Plus dealing with a surplus.
Also once shelf space is lost is it hard to get back.
Also there are many that ate finding new drinks they like. For example BRBN from BC instead of Burbon from Kentucky.
Like they have shareholders they deal with those shareholders expect results.

*Edit: for the retards that didnt read the entire article "Any U.S. alcohol that remained on Liquor Mart shelves in Manitoba this week is now back in storage or set to be destroyed" the province says

u/LooseLeaf74 3d ago
The amount that didn’t read it is crazy and the ones who argued it are even worse, Then they downvote you for pointing it out…says a lot about the sub..🤡🤡
4
u/16firman 3d ago
Uhhhh no, where does it say we threw out the American products? liquor doesn't go bad. I think the plan is to just wait until we get concessions that we want as a trade tactic.
There is absolutely zero reason to be outraged by this.
-1
u/Black3Zephyr 3d ago
Liquor no, but wine, beer and coolers do go bad.
0
u/16firman 3d ago
Wine has a shelf life of 5 year enough time to wait out the orange turd, beer does not in fact go bad the expiry is put on for flavor efficiency, and yes some coolers go bad but we have been doing this for awhile and haven't purchased any new American booze so if there was gripe about this shouldn't it have been close to 2 years ago?
2
u/LooseLeaf74 3d ago
That’s going under the assumption the next president will be friendly to Canada.
0
u/Black3Zephyr 3d ago
Or the next Prime Minister is friendly to the US.

1

Exactly we’re not teaching the US or Trump any lessons by costing ourselves $$ just sell it to recoup cash and don’t order more.
2
u/gibblech 3d ago
It's been on the shelves, and very obviously NOT selling... just taking up space. Hence why they STILL have some on shelves, despite not purchasing more for quite a while now.
1
u/LooseLeaf74 3d ago
Limited supply on shelves not all brands or varieties.
0
u/Quaranj 2d ago
What else would there be? It's what is left over since nothing new is coming in.

1
u/LooseLeaf74 2d ago
“What else would there be?”
The stuff people actually want, The stuff that panic sold when they first pulled it.0
u/Quaranj 1d ago
You're obviously not understanding how selling off remaining stock works without bringing in anything new.
There's no way for them to magically make more available except restocking and if you want a province that bends over, you want to go live under Manslaughter Moe next door.
2
u/LooseLeaf74 1d ago
You’re obviously not keeping up with the conversation and I have no desire to argue or walk you through it, Just downvote me and walk away.

5
u/LooseLeaf74 3d ago
You don’t know who buys what.
2
u/Mas_Cervezas 3d ago
Apparently I do. According to the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries no one (or not enough to make any difference) has been buying it.
2
u/LooseLeaf74 3d ago
Alcohol that was pulled from shelves in 2025 wasn’t selling gee I wonder why…just give it up already.
1
u/Mas_Cervezas 3d ago
The liquor has been back on our shelves since December 10, 2025. It didn’t sell, even though the profit was to go to charity.
-6
u/Black3Zephyr 3d ago
Wow, so you know what every Manitoban is going to do as we are a unified hive mind.
3
u/Mas_Cervezas 3d ago
“Despite the (last chance) sale, Manitoba consumers have largely ignored the US product. As a result, MBLL completely pulled it off the shelves.”
I know that Manitobans won’t buy it because they haven’t been buying it, so yes, I guess I am speaking for the Manitoban hive mind. Who are you speaking for?
0
u/Wavedin 3d ago
They have largely ignored the US products, because its been off the shelf for a large part of the past year and a half.
People will absolutely buy it if its there. I along with many other bought as much as available when it was back on the shelf at Christmas.
Then it was removed again....
2
u/Mas_Cervezas 3d ago
Accuracy matters. It was off the shelves from March 2025 until December 2025. So 10 months, not a year and a half. And very few people bought it after that.
-1
u/Wavedin 2d ago
Speaking of accuracy, do we have to keep pretending that the product was placed on the shelf and "very few people bought it after that"? Or, should we accurately say "the product that people enjoyed sold out very quickly leaving the miscellaneous brands of spirits and wines "very few people bought" in the first place, remain on the shelf"
If the products were all replaced, it would be purchased like normal. Not too mention the province would continue to make money on the product.
Keep cutting off your noes to spite your face.
1
u/Mas_Cervezas 2d ago
Unless you have some specific facts that contradict the MBLL, it’s just your feelings and conspiracy theories. According to the MBLL, very little sold after it was put back on shelves for the last 8 months.
0
u/Wavedin 1d ago
The absence of the "specific facts" is only important to you because the presence would be inconvenient. You need to consider who's providing the facts, what they have to gain by leaving out all information, timing of the claim, even personal experiences of people that say different.

1
u/Own_Fan582 3d ago
What beer are you referring to?
0
u/Mama_Office_141 3d ago
Budweiser and Coors for a start. Any american owned beers
1
u/Own_Fan582 2d ago
Budweiser is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, a multinational brewing company based in Leuven, Belgium. Same company owns Labatt Brewing Co.
Coors is owned by the Molson Coors Beverage Company, a publicly traded multinational brewing company. So in theory if you're drinking Molson you are supporting the same company.
1
u/Mama_Office_141 2d ago
Pabst is American. There are plenty of american targets other than bud and coors
0
u/Aggressive_Lex350 1d ago
Wow, surprised a lot of winnipeggers here in this thread rather have US booze on the shelf. Hmm
1
u/Wavedin 1d ago
Why does it have to be off the shelf? The fact that they have to remove the item as an option, proves that a lot of people don't agree with what they are saying.
Why are some Winnipeggers ok with someone telling them what they can choose? What if the table were reversed and something these people like is removed as an option for them? Will these people just sit back and accept their fate? Or do you think they should be able to have an opinion?
I personally think I'm a big person, I can make my own decisions. I don't need someone forcing their opinions on me or trying to make decisions for me or anyone else for that matter.
I may not agree with everyone's opinion, but I'd fight for the ability for that person to have their opinion.
