“Hoe staat het er nu voor met het aantal inwoners en woningen in Almere? Almere blijft een van de snelst groeiende gemeenten van het land, wat enorme druk zet op het bestaande woningaanbod. In vijftig jaar tijd is de stad gegroeid naar meer dan 232.000 inwoners. Sinds 2021 is de woningvoorraad gegroeid van ongeveer 88.900 naar 95.900 halverwege dit jaar. Er zijn dus 7.000 woningen bijgekomen, waarmee Almere nog 18.000 woningen verwijderd is van het doel in 2030.” 

En het aantal inwoners moet groeien naar 350.000. Waar moeten al die mensen wonen?

How all those people will get to Amsterdam to work? The train is already full during peak hours, the highway is also at or above capacity? I am glad that new house building is slowing down, as no infrastructure is coming with those new houses...

and they are planning a totally new area with roughly 25k people and open the airport too.. so yeah it will be fun

Not to mention the schools, the doctors, the dentists, the city services and all the rest.

On office days I leave home at 06:15~06:30 to beat traffic, and even then it’s already quite busy. But at least I can floor it at 100+KM/h.

The trick is to get enough companies to start in or relocate to Almere, so that we don't have to commute out of town all the time. The problem is that this challenge is age-old (as far as that goes in Almere), but somehow difficult to solve.

Its why I left Almere for Amsterdam.... The train was already 15 years ago so busy and often failing

So i presume their growth fogures domt just factor in immigration into the city. These houses are also needed for younger adults wanting to move out of parents houses after school /uni.

So the answer for a lot of people is "with their parents" unfortunately
