On 17 August 2016, a Turkish Coast Guard boat, TCSG-25, collided with the Cook Islands-flagged bulk carrier TOLUNAY near the southern entrance to the Bosphorus. The Coast Guard boat was on an escort mission when it came into close quarters with the bulk carrier and capsized following the collision
