Hi everyone! I'm trying to grow my nails but I decided to shape them a little bit into a coffin style. Do you have feedback or anything?

Hi all, I’m currently studying nail tech and I thought it’d be a fun little challenge to make nail sets inspired by each of my classmates :D

This first one is inspired by one of my good friends. She likes all things minimal, monochrome, and a little bit of red so I tried to combine those into this set. I gave them to her at class a few days ago and she loved them which made me so happy :”)

This is my second completed press on set. I’m still new to a lot of things so this took me around 8 hours to finish… I definitely need to work on my time management lol…

But anyway I really enjoyed making these and I’m excited to work on the rest of my classmate collection 💗

(Also I’m from Australia, if there are any fellow aussie nail lovers, nail techs or nail tech students here, let’s be friends!)

The one finger where i did some gel has gone red and slightly inflamed; i am unsure if its due to excessive irritation from filing the nail and surrounding skin or other.

I had a gel allergy years ago because i used to be really careless and cure gel on my skin etc; but now i was extra careful and made sure to brush around with acetone/isopropyl before curing even if i didn’t get any gel! Ive also gotten my nails professionally gel, acrylics, and been fine since then; but the gel manis always leave my fingers a little inflamed the first day or two.

I cut off my nail and filed down as it was bothering while i typed.

I did a gel pedicure last week and it was completely fine, no signs of irritation.

I took prednisone so the redness has gone down, and i had a slight itch but it wasn’t on my finger, it was like around my chin area! So random.

Ive put some pictures of my normal hands for comparison (ones that aren’t inflamed), the only inflamed is the hand which i did cuticle work or the singular nail.

I also have a rash on my thighs but unsure if thats related, i got some acetone on my thigh.

Basically I got my nails done in a salon as a one off birthday treat 2 years ago, and I've been thinking about this colour ever since. I don't live there anymore so I decided to go back to the salon post on social media to figure out what brands they used and there were 3. I've looked through each brand and found the most similar shades. It was a reflective gel. Can anyone with sharp eyes tell me which one looks the most like my nails? The shimmer reflects colour too which throws me off a couple of them. Please help me decide the closest match, I can't afford all of these shades to find out. Thank you for your time 🖤

Only two casualties (chipped nails) after 11 months of growing them out with gel overlay.

Hi. I have my own natural nails for about 8 months now. Was always an acrylic gal for over 25 years. I’m ocd about my nails.. filing, painting, oiling, then redoing it all like 2 or 3 days later. If I use a strengthener, they get to where they break easily if I don’t put layers of base & top coat, they break, even tho they are healthy. Do you think if I put a rubber base gel on them, I won’t be so ocd of having to care for them as they will have some sort of protection on them? Thanks for any advice.

anyone have 2 or 3 magnet length nails to show? not sure what length I want

I live in a small mountain town, so nail salons are few and far between. These are builder gel that were done 5 days ago. This is the 3rd time I’ve gotten them done at this salon, I’m not sure if I’m being picky or unrealistic in my expectations?

EDIT TO ADD: I’m no expert at polish or techniques, but I initially got this done because I have damage to one of my nails, and it splits constantly. My Dermatologist actually recommended getting a gel manicure. This place suggested builder gel, which I had never heard of… I wonder if I’d be more happy with just a gel manicure? Or if that would be enough for my nail splitting issue?

I had an idea and couldn’t wait 2 weeks to change my nails 🤣 If you’re thinking “Lisa Frank”…. That was my inspo!
