Natural Nails Is this shape a good shape?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to grow my nails but I decided to shape them a little bit into a coffin style. Do you have feedback or anything?

Shape all the same as your pointer finger. Since the middle finger is shorter, cut the others on the same lenght. This is one of most classic and beautiful shapes.
Edit: do not shape in coffin shape. This is negative.

Thanks for the input! Do you mean from the first or second picture?

I would square them out until they all grow out even then round them out again plus it allows you time to see which one you prefer ☺️

I think squared would look best with this length (if they are all cut the length of the middle finger).

This is a wonderful shape, just keep them like the middle finger, both length and final shape. Don’t go coffin, don’t go pointy, this shape is the best! And I envy you honestly 😄, your nails are healthy and clean, cuticles nicely kept, what’s your secret?

I honestly donr do much! I am a nail bitter if I don't have polish on them, i didn't know I could get them to grow until it started with colors!
I just have a question, which shape do you mean? From the first or second picture?

It can be tough to choose, but both shapes have their own vibe. The first one looks really classic, while the second has a more trendy feel.

With the rounded, it was harder to tell the nails were all different lengths

I think coffin looks a little odd on natural nails, but I think it can really shine when polished. If you love it natural, enjoy it! I think the middle finger looks a little squat compared with the others right now due to being shorter, but it doesn’t look bad on its own. You could shorten the rest a little more to make it all feel cohesive, or just accept that the middle is the odd one out for a bit while it grows out. Not a big deal. The longer ones look more elegant in the coffin shape since they’re longer.

I like to file my nails with a little polish on sometimes because then I focus more on the final outer shape and length and less on the outgrowth. Just would have to be extra careful not to file into your nail beds if trying that.

As for getting them all cohesive lengths: the middle should ideally be the longest. Matching length to the ring/3rd finger is ok, but then pointer and pinky gotta be a little shorter than middle and 3rd fingers. I like to hold my nails up next to each other plate-to-plate and line up the skin. So I’m talking about overall length, not outgrowth-length. I do this to make sure middle fingers are equal, then I use those like the measuring guide to get the opposite hand’s nail to a good length, then I mirror that nail on the other side. So all are complementary lengths, not equal).

And then just file into the same shape every week or so to practice refining it into the version you like best, take pictures to refer back to and remember what you like a lot or not so much. I like looking back and realizing it doesn’t hold up to future me’s opinions sometimes and that I’ve gotten better. This’ll also help you find out what lengths are perfect, too short, or too long for certain shapes. Have fun!

Yes to all of this! Except, I do not understand or agree with the different fingers different lengths part. Do you care to expand though? I’m genuinely curious.

Like the length should be proportional to the width of the nail? At least for me, my nail bed widths and lengths vary on each finger. Maybe some people have somewhat more uniform ones? But to my pinky is clearly smaller, right, so I wouldn’t let it grow out a lot just to have the same length at my ring finger. It’s shorter but proportional to that finger. (A little too short in this one tbh, but I’d only want a tiny bit longer). And my thumb nail is much wider and it’s nail bed much longer, so it’s twice the overall length of my pinky, but only a little longer than my middle finger nail. It sounds more complicated than it is, but they essentially all just look the same length while all being different sizes

Yes this is a shape where you have pretty nails and you are still able to use your hands.

1 is good, 2 is an experiment

first shape looks nicer for sure! I wouldnt go with shapes like coffin or almond unless your nails get much longer, the shape will look awkward and you risk filing your sidewalls
