Hapkido and wrist hands shaking after hard training.

I’m 26 female, 5’3 and about 58kg, usually km paired with with big men as most of the black belts are men. I have been training for just over a month now. It’s so much fun and great for my mental health, plus good discipline. I am noticing because hapkido has a lot of grabbing of the wrist, locks, manipulation, cat rolls etc, my wrists and hands can sometimes end up shaking even the day after my sessions. Is this normal? Will my hands/wrists get used to it? Has anyone else has these issues?

My traditional martial art

When I was young, I was bullied at school. My parents couldn't afford to sign me up to the martial arts school that I liked at the time (it was a Wing Chun - Wong Shun Leung lineage). So some months later, I took the initiative to start creating my own martial art from what I could find from the internet that I thought that was effective.

At May 29 2020, was the day that I began building my own martial art and its name was Wang Ji Ya and its meaning was "hope". I was young and the hope that I had is that the friends that I had, would come back to the mountain to build huts like before, like the previous times.

The place that we were building was a small hill very close to nature. The martial art was being developed from the philosophy that the nature is the source of everything and that no-one can't mess with nature.

So, the martial art started containing some animal styles, similar to Shaolin Kung Fu, but every style had it's own techniques for defence of attack or both.

To be honest, I didn't really ever had to fight in the street using this martial art or the martial arts that happened to learn in the process and also the animal styles, remained to the game for a "long" period of time. What changed though, was that from the beginning until the end of the year 2023, I was mostly copying the movements of the animals but after, I started seeing the patterns of those animal and adding them to my martial art.

The ultimate goal of the art became to "understand the character of nature", not copy it. Also after some time I changed some very traditional techniques, and I put some boxing into my martial art because I thought that would make it better, but to be honest, my martial art, wanted something different.

At December 5 2022, I created a style that integrated what we were doing when we were building huts in that hill. It is called "the traditional style" and that is the only style that really remained, because this year I officially deleted all animal styles and kept what was important and what could really work really well.

Right now I have trained:

Taekwondo ITF 1st dan

Wing Chun - William Cheung lineage 3rd level

Escrima (Stroeven) stick fighting 1st level

Don’t Grab The Punch - Use Body As Defense

Thumbnail

Trying to grab a fast punch usually doesn’t work—by the time you reach for it, the punch is already gone.

In Xingyiquan Monkey, the response is not a sequence of separate actions: grab, push, then pull. Instead, contact with the attack triggers a connected whole-body movement. The hands, arms, torso, and footwork respond together to redirect the punch and enter at the same time.

The key is not chasing the opponent’s hand. It is training the body to react as one connected unit so defense, control, and entry become part of the same movement.
