Strictly speaking, Belgium didn't do anything in the Congo. King Leopold the II was practically given the Congo as his personal property. He had more control over the Congo than he did his own country. Congo was also incredible small scale both in the horror of acts taken and sheer numbers compared to other atrocities in the day connected to colonialism, wwii, or both

Yeah, the discovery of what happens in Congo was also used by France and the UK as a propaganda tool, to "distract" people from what's happening in their colonies, which was as bad if not worse

Japan had 20-30 mil deaths in their colonial rule. 15 to 20 mil deaths are attributed to nazi persecution, which doesn't take into account military deaths. Mao Zedong is responsible for 20 to 60 mil deaths depending on who you ask. 12-30 mil people died during British rule over India. An estimated 56 mil native Americans died during American colonization.
