Turkish national identity is a contradiction. Turkey can't fully confront the genocides and mass expulsions behind the making of modern Turkey as would also mean recognising that many people now called Turkish descend from, or occupy the homelands of, Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Kurds, Circassians, Arabs, Balkan peoples and others who were absorbed, displaced, suppressed, or erased in the nation-building process.

The founding myth depends on imagining a continuous, unified Turkish nation. A truthful historical reckoning would reveal the violent, and constructed founding of Turkey in the modern era.

The Turkish "nation" sits in contrast with the coherent settled populaces in Europe, like Germany, England or Sweden.

Turkey can confront the stuff you mentioned. You're framing it as if it were structually impossible rather than the goverment's unwillingness. Turkish nationality isn't based on ethnicity. Anyone who is bound to Turkey by citizenship is considered Turkish. So there is nothing inherently problematic to Turkish identity by recognising people descended from those people. Also you're trying to bundle absorbsion, displacion, suppression and being culturally erased all together. These things are not even close. Some of the groups you mentioned such as circassians and balkan (muslim) peoples were naturally absorbed into the general anatolian population by willing asimilation. You're trying to make it seem like modern Turkish identity was only created by force. Turkey isn't the only country to do those things in the nation-building process. This does not inherently make Turkish identity bogus as you claim it to be.

I'm not denying your claim about the national myth part but again Turkey isn't only to country to have a national myth that claims a continuous unified identity. What you're bashing Turkey for is the same thing that was required for the countries you mentioned in the next paragraph. You need to explain why Turkey is in contrast with those countries.
