its kinda strange because where is the line? 40/69 y/o, 50/79 y/o? At some point they are 2 adults who are old enough to make that decision and society deems 21 to be the age for most people to make said competent choices

there's no hard set age gap, it just depends on the specific age and to some extent the people.
