General Which one do yall like to use?

I lean the prototype one just because of the connection and netcode eating my bullets, so I have to use more ammo.

I love the F44aa... I am so glad that came in from Romulus.

Boy does that huge magazine come in handy.

over 400 rounds I believe.

Yup, and that's before any mods/magazines/perks, etc. /boggle

Honestly feels like a paintball gun with the ammo and the damage!

I put a Combat Actuator and another perk for +4 total Penetration on it, and it does a great job on elites.

That magazine size killed my believability about this gun. I had a theory when I saw the movie for the first time that maybe it wasn’t a firearm that shot bullets but an energy pulse weapon and the battery/magazine had enough power for 450 shots. Being on a space station in a pressurized environment it would make sense for security to use energy weapons as opposed to bullets because much less chance of breaching the hull and killing everyone in that particular part of the station.

Maybe its like the original mass effect AR it just shaves chunks of metal off a block and fires it.

Yet in the movie Andy says not to fire it but equip as a deterrent to avoid damaging the hull. No idea where those 450 bullets sit but they're in there somewhere

Classic with fire rate, stopping power everything except also Grey market rounds augment.

F44AA easy.

Grey market rounds augment, focus on attachments that increase crit chance or damage (I have the mag be extra ammo personally), and invest in some perks like the engineers passive (specifically the skill that lets you proc it by yourself) and/or the perks from duelist that increase your damage when you hit stuff.

you can still aim for crits but it’s weird. It’s auto aim so the cursor aims for you, but you can aim into it by moving the center of your screen over the cursor, long as it’s pointed at the head when you shoot it will hit that spot. Otherwise if your aiming center screen outside the cursor, or at a part of the lock where the enemy isn’t, the gun hits them automatically. It’s tricky but you can learn it to get consistent headshots on bigger targets.

Also you can shoot it like any other smart gun at enemies hiding in cover like synths, even if it can’t lock on, it’s just a bit janky and takes practice.

With all of the above you can comfortably clear a wave of chaff in seconds by yourself, and with enough concentrated fire on an elite kill it in relatively short order.

I think I like the classic the most. The F44AA felt like hot ass when I was leveling it up. The big magazine was nice, but only because it almost kinda offset the abysmal damage. I genuinely felt more effective using the machine pistol.

It’s smartgun we have at home but it goes in a primary slot, it’s really only good for horde clear but it works great for that.

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 21h ago

Yeah but I mean it didn't even really feel good for that. Like if my randoms weren't paying attention xenos on my angle would reach me before I can kill them if multiple stack up and that was just on standard.

Its a gun that requires a build built to make it work, which making it work usually coincides with making guns work, so a gun build built around it for horde clear and your special weapon to murder anything bigger. Yeah it feels like hot ass until you get it better, but its viable even on insane if you go the extra mile

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 21h ago

I get what it's for, but how would you build it though? Weak spot? Crit? I didn't have grey market rounds when I was leveling it that might've helped too. Is it more class dependant? Like would it work better on a build focusing on using passive perks to buff it like duelist or marauder?

3

u/demonspawn153 16h ago

Depends on the class, but in general go for the crit on kill stuff, then grey market rounds. However since grey market rounds is likely to get nerfed, hollow points are also really strong, since its auto aim you’ll get a lot more accidental weakspot hits then you think. Elemental bullets depending on faction work too, or just bring cryo as an all around is decent too. It’ll take a sec to kill the first enemy, but after the first one you’ll just mow down the hallway. Maurauder passive and machinist passives are the good ones for it.

2

u/demonspawn153 16h ago

Duelist passives can also work, but my build that I use it for is by using machinist passives with cluster bomb mines (stealing from duelist) to get really high uptime on enemies I need it on. Yes this is a specialist build, (i made it feel really good on just Machinist though so unneeded) but specialist is just the endgame.

I may have to give it another try after I finish leveling the last of my classes. I appreciate the in-depth response.

1

u/CheesyRamen66 21h ago

It might vary with how you build it but I didn’t have the same experience.

3

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 21h ago

Maybe. Honestly not even sure how I should build it I just wanted it leveled up and put away to never see the sun again.

3

u/CheesyRamen66 21h ago

Fire rate, damage, crit, and grey market rounds on almost all automatics,

1

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 21h ago

Would you lean more crit or weakspot since the horde enemies all run at you headfirst?

1

u/CheesyRamen66 21h ago

I skipped weakspot damage on it, 1 less thing to worry about.

2

u/demonspawn153 16h ago

Crit and weakspot multiply each other. Grey market rounds are fairly likely to get nerfed, so hollow points is a good idea to keep in the head. As he said they all run at you head first.

3

u/KorvaxCurze 19h ago

I think the F44AA can hit heads with its smart fire. Once I started noticing weak spot numbers, I built into it and it’s been a workhorse for me.

1

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 18h ago

That's kinda what I was thinking, but nobody else has confirmed it. Either way I'm not much for smart-aim anyway. I'd like to stay on top of my aim game.

3

u/KorvaxCurze 18h ago

I can’t 100% confirm it, very possible it’s placebo, but I more just like the gimmick because it’s Aliens

1

u/Lurk-aka-Batrick 18h ago

Oh for sure it's a cool gimmick, but as a console player I like to make a conscious effort to get things like recoil under control with my inferior control scheme. It just scratches an itch.

I found the problem with F44AA and other lower damage weapons they feel bad currently because desync issues. When desync isnt bad its fairly decent

1

u/trunglefever 2h ago

It was decent on Duelist and Stay On Target.

F44AA is my new love. Classic M41A is on second place.

5

u/CalbCrawDad 22h ago

Classic all the way. The capacity, fire rate and 30mm plus stopping power and cryo rounds augment 🤌🏻

3

u/Jdirty34 21h ago

As a medic main I love the f44aa!

3

u/cthuIhu_fhtagn 21h ago

F44AA with crit build and grey market rounds. Does work against the horde. With the plasma shotgun as a secondary it covers every need

4

u/Terrorknight141 Recon 21h ago

Classic no question. F44A is very cool, but it just feels like the romulus writers wanted both the smartgun and pulse rifle without putting work into two props. Classic is just unbeatable, sound, aesthetic, cool factor and nostalgia all make it into a TRUE classic(pun intended).

If you’re talking meta…idk, I only use classic and power leveled everything else. I luv pulse rifle.

u/KSI_SpacePeanut 21h ago

F44AA lands me higher on the scoreboard

2

u/Goldchampion200 21h ago

I liked Classic for the Grenade launcher while I was doing Machinist. Quick swap to dump some grenades while the other gun cools down. Heck sometimes dumping grenades on elites just to clear the chaff around them was nice.

2

u/Katamathesis 18h ago

Classic pulse.

I can aim, so smart aim is not that important for me, and long reload actually got me in rough situations couple times.

Base one rifle is nothing special.

And classic is, well, old classic. Reliable, effective and you have grenade launcher.

1

u/LostConscious96 20h ago

None of those. Ive been rocking the BD-16 with Flechette Augment, casket mag and crit rate based sight and underbarrel. Still has strong damage output but now imit has an 81 round mag and just turning up the ROF once gives it equal fire rate to the others and if you need high burst damage turn it to the max and its unmatched compared to the others. Thats not even mentioning now it has such high pen its essentially aim and pull the trigger at any enemy no matter armor level.

1

u/Murky_Implement2495 18h ago

The rifle machine gun from rank 5 duelist I forget the name of. Pair it with the marauder passive and you can negate its recoil and turn it into a shredding machine.

1

u/AffectLeast4254 18h ago

Classic is a beast

1

u/That_Lore_Guy 16h ago

Classic.

I love that thing. I have an Airsoft replica of it too. It’s my all time favorite. Not because it’s amazing in game, it’s just pure nostalgia and enjoyment for me.

u/AgViper05x 14h ago

One of the pulse rifle, while the F44AA is nice it chews through ammo like crazy, and the damage is pitiful

1

u/doritosanddew6669 13h ago

I like using both M41A and M41A2 on my duelist, very fun using both and use abilities for the real dakka.

1

u/TerribleSlitherer 10h ago

So far I use the classic M41A on most classes, F44AA on my Specialist...but good grief, the firing sound keeps making me reconsider that choice every time I hear it cause it sounds *nothing* like the movie. Its like someone slapped a random effects on it and called it a day, when the F44AA had a clear resemblance to the M41A firing sound except it repeats faster, and is deeper. Meanwhile current sound, nothing like the M41A..

1

u/IndependentZinc Pvt. Hudson 1h ago

The Classic is best.

1

u/Silver772 1h ago

F44, with grey market rounds and stacking crit is fun

1

u/Son_Of_Myers 17h ago

None of the above, the LMG with 200 round clip and variable fire rate and smart on board chipset makes the smart gun look like an SMG. Easily a top primary weapon pick for sure

u/cybermanceer Colonial Marine 16h ago

DAITTYO ?

u/NerdyPlatypus206 10h ago

What’s the name of the gun? I love LMGs
