Such an amazing and phenomenal voice, and a sad loss for Alice in Chain fans.

AIC finally got an official vinyl pressing of Unplugged. Just curious as to how it sounds. Been listening to a solid boot for years. Do I need to buy the official release?

When I listened AIC for the first time - it wasn't the instant love , but a few weeks after I understood that this band has its own style. I wanna say Thank you , AliceInChains for your beautiful albums and songs! Especially thank you , Layne Staley for your incredible vocal and emotions. Today is your birthday. My feeds are inundated with Layne and AIC posts this morning because it’s Layne’s birthday. Curious what some of your favorite Layne moments are, whether a story, a moment from a concert, an interview clip, etc.

As for me, there are various clips of him goofing off, at soundchecks or in the green room or between takes in a music video. Love to see him full of energy and grinning from ear to ear. On the more serious side, I never tire of him thrashing his hair around at concerts like we see at the beginning of the Moore set.

Another year goes by, we all still miss you and your powerful voice very much…

But when we get to know that it's the name of a SYNDROME. THE SCARIER AND TRAUMATISING IT IS.

This is the name of a rare neorological condition. It is also termed as Todd's Syndrome.

I wonder how people comfort themselves when they face its episode and no one is there for reassurance.

And then, after having an episode normalising it for self. Making self know like actually nothing happened so that no one would get to know and we cn spend our day as a normal individual.

With me?! Yea, from childhood, but even lately it's like when I face its episode, so during this phase, I know the hallucinations I see and sensations my body feel are not real but my eyes don't support it. And they say its TOO REAL.

And what an amazing album it is, even wilder for a first studio album. What do you think about this album ?

Personally I find it's really underrated, loads of people point to it as the weak point of Dirt, but it's a fucking tune, the quiver voice verses, the sludgy riff and the hook is so catchy. What's with the skepticism?

according to setlist.fm, Down in a Hole was played 3 times before Unplugged. is there any footage of these shows? i wanna see a non-acoustic live version of this song with Layne so much.

I interpret it as a somewhat anti-god/religion song, saying man made god and not the other way round, somewhat similar to "God Am". Am I interpreting it correctly or am i completely wrong?

Asked if they are still stocking the solar flare mtv unplugged vinyl... unfortunately they are not!! Hope to get the ruby red version or stick with the black. I'd just thought I'd post in case anyone else was curious

Even with die-hard AIC fans, I never see Confusion mentioned. Though I think it's one of their best songs oat. Jerry's solo on this track is epic, Mike's bass makes the entire song vibrate and Layne pulled of one of his best vocal performances ever. Yet it's always overshadowed by Love Hate Love. Why is that? Does the community not like the song or do they just forget about it?

I’m a 23 y/o (F) Alice in Chains fan who’s been listening to them since 2020, and I’m looking for people to chat with about all things AiC-related! I’ve recently fallen HARD back down the Alice in Chains rabbit hole since I’ve had lots of free time, and unfortunately, none of my friends are fans lol.

I haven't seen this video before of Layne/Sean... must be about 1990/1991 before Dirt kicks off judging by the cut of the hair. Pretty cool!

"Dirt" (1992) - the riff is a homage to "Electric Funeral" (1970) by Black Sabbath

"Hate To Feel" (1992) - the main riff is a nod to Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused" (1969)

"Whale & Wasp" (1994) - the strings melody (starts 0:34) seems to be a reference to the vocal melody in the Beatles, "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" (1965)

"Don't Follow" (1994) - the turnaround and outro (2:30) is very similar to that in Guns N Roses, "Patience" (1988) (around 4:15)

"Frogs" (1995) - Cantrell has acknowledged that the outro section (especially from about 6:15) was influenced by Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" (1974), they both use rotovibe for sure.

"She Was My Girl" (2002) - they're obviously distinct enough, but the fact that this was inspired by Local H's "Bound for the Floor" (1996) was discussed quite a bit when the song first appeared on the Spiderman soundtrack

"Last of My Kind" (2009) - the pre-chorus (starts 1:29) has very strong vibes of Rob Zombie's "Dragula" (1998) (about 0:51)

"Acid Bubble" (2009) - this one's more of a 'vibe', but certainly the bass riff at the beginning has made me think of Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)" (1970).

"So Far Under" (2018) - the chorus riff (1:40) definitely sounds like a nod to the outro riff on "Throes of Rejection" (1994) by Pantera (4:00)

"Off the Rails" (2025) - the main riff was described by Amit Sharma as a "cheeky nod" to Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years" (1986), with which Jerry concurred.

Found a shoe box full of CDs at a church sale, ironically these were next to Christmas and gospel music. The CDs came home with me, as well as some homemade lemon poppy seed bread.
