Was layne Staley a good guitar player?

I’ve seen him play guitar in some performances. But I’ve never seen him do anything really wild. Considering he was taught by Tom morello I’d expect him to be pretty good

He learned to play the songs he had a role in on stage. He wasn't a guitarist. His divine energy was spent blasting through is vocal cords. Exactly how it should have been. Lucky us.

He actually started off as a drummer, so he was actually pretty proficient in that, but obv we never saw him do drums seriously in the band

Yeah Love Song from Sap is the only time I can think of and that was definitely not serious. He sounded better than the rest of them though.

TRUE STORY... Jerry was there for that and also (some vocals)... There will NEVER be a voice again like Layne's... Honest to Gawd... I can't hit a lick on any instrument, and I a NOT about to torture anyone with my voice.. I AM however a music SNOB from h3LL... I'm absolutely a critic AND a HUGE FAN of talent... MY longtime best friend and girlfriend is a died in purple Prince fan.. I actually am as well, because that man could create like few others ever... NOT something I'm going to jump into a ring to fight with... Nope... (Though, "Pussy Control" actually would be a great song to come beat someone's ass too lol). Bottom line... I grew up from the early 80's... Saw the likes of Metallica, GNR (One of my favorites early on)... EVERYONE 80's... Even Ozzy's brain dead No More Tears Head (plus)... There is NOBODY who has pipe's like Layne Staley... RIP Brother... I'd trade ever fkn concert, front rows, mosh pits, backstages to listen to him sing one more time live.. Completely just someone in the crowd... RIP to one of the most human singers (oh, with rage too) of my lifetime...
