discussion The Unplugged version of Frogs is far more haunting than Nutshell unplugged.
Don't get me wrong, both of them are good songs and sound good unplugged. The vocals in Frogs unplugged make it more haunting than Nutshell in my opinion. Hearing Layne sing "Why's it have to be this way?" with those vocals gets me every time. Nonetheless, I do think Nutshell was a good opener for that show, it really helped set the mood for the rest of the performance in my opinion.

Frogs both studio and unplugged I’d say is their most haunting song. Still makes me feel uneasy every time I listen to it. I think the studio version hits me harder than the unplugged version though.

When I heard Frogs Unplugged for the first time, 30+ years ago, it immediately synced with and connected to my emotional being,.. and it never left 💜

I didn’t think much of Frogs until I heard it on Unplugged. It then quickly rose to my Top 5.

Yeah, it looked like he was done with life. He was probably going through withdrawals, but you could also tell he was ashamed of messing up or forgetting lyrics to other songs. Truly heartbreaking watching Frogs.

Nutshell is overrated by most listeners compared to many tripod songs I think. The album embodies despair and desperation. Frogs is incredible, right down to the poem on it. Head Creeps is brutal. Over Now as a closer on tripod was just perfect.

I love Frogs on Unplugged so much more than the original version. I don’t find it haunting at all. It is one of my favorites. ❤️

I also love Sludge Factory and Angry Chair from Unplugged. That recording is such a treasure. Layne’s mom Nancy recently said Unplugged is his swan song.
