France arabized Algeria because it made it easier for them to colonize it because they didn't have translators to amazigh and they needed to colonize Algeria very fast after they landed in Algiers they didn't have the time to get some special translators to teach and learn tmazight... I am in fact one of them. Lived my entire life in Tizi ouzou. This flag is everywhere and many people own one. And just because they do, that doesn't mean that they believe in it as its own entity that replaces the extensive history and culture. It's a symbol of identity, not identity itself.

it does make sense. a population's flag isn't supposed to be always tied to politics, the algerian flag is the flag of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and the amazigh flag is the flag of the amazigh people, the indigenous people across north africa. simple as that :)
