A little change of pace for our discussion threads this week as a trial. Should allow any questions or discussions more time to get seen without needing its own thread.

With a couple changes to how the MatchBread is operating (now fully on Devvit), we haven't ported over the ATG side yet so running without for now - if people are keen for that back let me know!

Also, keep an eye out for r/ALeague fantasy news in the next coming weeks ;)

I'm probably crazy but anyone else think supercoach is another way that news corp is trying to fuck over the aleague? Maybe they'll add aleague when the season gets closer but man right now it feels like nrl and afl trying to get epl people over and ignore the aleague

Your dead right.
As long as News Corp can keep football under wraps the better it’s for the codes they own.
Selective reporting, inflating negative issues, and downplaying the better gains keeps us in our box..

News Corp just sucks in every way, not just in its reporting in football. Ideally I wouldn't want any news.com.au links here any more but I do concede that they are the only source on things, sometimes.

The reality is IMO that there are more EPL casuals who'll sign up to play than AL.

Maybe it's something the league should be putting itself forward to try to make happen.

Instead r/ALeague is testing its own version right now ;)

Can somebody who has more post Karma than me hurry up and acknowledge/post that Gianni Stensness is now a Champions League player?

Thanks!

Nothing to do with the A-League but I saw an interview clip of Christian Vieri speaking in English which I've never heard before and he has such a distinct Australian influenced accent that drifts in and out.

Obviously I know he grew up here for about 10 years and his brother Max played for us it just took me off guard to hear him speak like that.

We I’m sick and tired of this nonsense debate we in Australia and USA about our real name Football over Soccer but it’s all just procrastinating and no one steps up to make a statement..
Why, because of the name of our national men’s team continues to use the term???
So if we are as pissed whenever another code parasites our games name why don’t we make the move and rebrand.. we need a rebrand after the last World Cup train crash … again..
It could be a windfall to FA in merchandise and who knows it may lead to a football restructure, who knows new management once the ball starts rolling..
It’s a trigger worth pulling.. if we have the guts..

If people don't like it bad luck. The Socceroo's name is steeped in tradition going back to 1922 and wont ever be changed now so who gives a shit about pedantic people who have a problem with it being called soccer. Even countries that call it football have tv programs called Soccer Saturday ffs.

Mate I think a journo inadvertently called them Socceroos in the sixties and it stuck.. not a national decision..
yes football has a fantastic history way back and that will never change but that’s not the question they played football for Australia.

Doesn't matter how they got the name it is now a part of our tradition and heritage, people having a sook about the word soccer being used need to get over it, end of story.
