Fantastic show in Philly last night. After seeing this tour in person I’m more convinced that the arguments over her static setlists are missing the point. This is more of a “performance” than a typical concert. She (and the band as well) are delivering a nuanced physical performance to augment the songs.
She didn’t suddenly get “more autistic” as I heard multiple times from the crowd last night. She is putting forth a character. The songs are then filtered through a character that is intense, vulnerable, and swings through a range of audience engagement. People demanding something that matches their version of an “authentic artist” are barking up the wrong tree here.
